How you know you're a real baseball fan..

You're rooting against the Yankees, even though they're playing a team that is in first ahead of your favorite team.

Yankees lead Oakland 6-3 at this point, Mariners just got another win to creep closer along with the Angels.

But it doesn't matter if I thought and hoped the Mariners would control the division this year. Oakland over the Yankees is good for the league, good for baseball, good for everyone....

Now its 7 to 3. *** (listening to the live audio as I type this)...

Bleep the Yankees. As the OOTP loading quote says...rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the house in blackjack. I don't care how much history and mystique they have. Its all gone now...and even the giant that everyone loves to hate aspect is gone now. They're just ridiculous and bad for the sport. Period.

And I know there will be "I am a lifelong fan...don't hate" type reactions. I can understand that. I dislike the Orioles, but I think its BS my team almost gets a free pass against them because they're a beaten club in a division of the evil empire.

Tampa Bay having success only gives them an alibi...

I say it sucks you can put together teams with no cohesion, no soul, no motivation other than $$$...and still win constantly...even if you have a 1 bad year.

Oh, I see you've watched an Oriole game. Feel my pain! Feel it!

We actually had relatively high hopes for the team this year. To say they've disappointed, individually and collectively, is an understatement.

The M's were horrible, and still won. Sorry if that's your team. I'll be rooting for them in every game not against the M's...

Stupidity.
Why is it stupid? You run a business, it becomes successful, you hire the best possible people available and your business becomes more successful.

That's not stupidity, it's just smart.

Listing player salaries proves nothing. Every player in the league gets paid, so basically any team that wins a Championship bought it. Just because the Yankess make more and can afford to pay more it's stupidity? The notion that it's stupidity is stupid.

If you want to blame someone, blame MLB for allowing these types of salaries. Blame owners like Florida's who put just about every red cent they make into their own pockets rather than back into the team. That's stupidity.

I mean, what kind of juvenile are you? I don't want to know; this has been enough time spent on stupidity. You have been added to my list of blocked blockheads to prevent any future wastage of time. "Bleep the Yankees." Grow up, for godsakes.

One last thing: Moronic statements like yours result from jealousy and disappointment of not having a local team and tradition like the New York Yankees. You know what? Instead of being ashamed of our winning ways, I hope the Yankees win five more championships in a row and ram them down the throats of people like you. How's that for New York Attitude, eh, Goody my boy?

I guess when you've got Milton Bradley on your team it must be tough to not root for the teams ahead of you in your division....

Next "bleep" gets a warning. It's against the rules to "bypass the forum filter" and if you want to get technical, both of you attempted to do so. I'm going to let both go but I reserve the right to change my mind after talking with the moderation team. Remember, this forum should be kid friendly.

As for the original post, truthfully, it's not even worth replying to. I've known Goody to be an irrational Yankee hater for a long time. It's the "in thing" so what do you expect? All the kiddies are doing it.

Technically the word *** in the op is swearing too, but since the board doesn't filter it it's ok?

Sorry, I didn't know about it. Editing and warning for that one.

Thanks for letting me know.

Joe, that's fair, thanks. As far as the OP and my response, let it stand as a reminder that when people talk trash about a team, or any other thing that some folks hold near and dear, that there are people on the other end of their trash talking. Not that my feelings were hurt, far from it. I was just outraged by the grossness of such behavior. No problem concerning this particular guy, though. He's on my blocked list now.

You may as well learn to love them, because they are not going away anytime soon :-)

Neither is cancer, but we aren't going to learn to love it.

Really, I like rooting against the Yankees. But I don't do it because they spend money. I wish more teams spent money. I wish my team would spend money. I actually like rooting against them because they are always on TV. It gives me a team to root for (the team playing against them) as well.

But I do root for the Yankees against Boston. I used to root for Boston, but I didn't realize that once they won a championship they would turn into Yankee Fans V2.0 the bad ones.

I was joking, lol. Its what makes sports so great, loving your own team, hating another and so on. What would sports be without that? BORING!

It's the hate part that bugs me. Root for your team, hope the others lose. Why the heck does hate and hateful speech have to be a part of it?

Somebody just privately messaged me: "Lets be honest, if we weren't Yankee fans we would hate them too!"

I responded: "No I wouldn't, any more than I really hate the Red Sox. There's too much of that stuff these days, and we can see the results of it right here in the forums."
