According to the Brewers beat writer for the Journal Sentinel in Milwaukee the MLB has until Feb 13th to decide what to do in the Braun appeal.

If Braun is found innocent the MLB will not announce anything and it will be like nothing ever happened, which is another reason a source shouldn't leak that kind of stuff EVER because innocent or not Braun's rep will never be the same.

You can darn well bet though if the MLB doesn't suspend Braun you will hear something from Braun's camp even if the MLB doesn't announce anything.

Either way we should know whats going to happen within the next week.

15 days and counting on Braun decision - JSOnline

I can't believe they've taken 5+ months now to make a decision, this is ridiculous...

Another week, still no decision ...

I wonder how long they'll drag this along, maybe till August when they'll suspend him for the rest of the pennant race ??

This is ridiculous - there either is evidence that he used PED or not and it must be possible to decide within four weeks

Except he did. He wasn't found innocent because of a scientific or medical reason for his elevated testosterone; his suspension was overturned because the sample wasn't handled correctly. The test results showed synthetic testosterone in his system, regardless.

MLB is full of a bunch of wimps for overturning this.

Uh, did you even look at the story before posting this in two different places?

Quote:
"It has always been Major League Baseball's position that no matter who tests positive, we will exhaust all avenues in pursuit of the appropriate discipline. We have been true to that position in every instance, because baseball fans deserve nothing less," Manfred said. "As a part of our drug testing program, the commissioner's office and the players' association agreed to a neutral third party review for instances that are under dispute. While we have always respected that process, Major League Baseball vehemently disagrees with the decision rendered today by arbitrator Shyam Das."

Two different places? One of those is facebook...so that doesn't count.

And no, I didn't read the article. Saw it on a friend's Facebook timeline and jumped to conclusions. It's fixed there and I'll change my stance to...

It's not good for the MLB or baseball that this was overturned.

Considering we don't have all of the facts, no suspension has ever been overturned before this, and whatever information we had available to us was leaked by someone breaking the rules by leaking it, I think I will go with, I think he's innocent. MLB probably is vocal against this because they have to be to save face. If this never goes public (like it shouldn't have) then it's a 3-0 decision but that's what happens when people shoot their mouths off and break protocol, they ruin a guys reputation for life regardless.

The impression everyone in the media gave and in the MLB prior to the results is that a protocol issue alone wouldn't have been enough to prevent a ban because the MLB's policies are so stringent.

Bad for the MLB? Maybe, but that doesn't mean I would support convicting someone on hearsay either, the process has to be fair otherwise it's just as much a farce.

Yeah, one sample that sat in some random guy's fridge for a weekend tested high but all the other ones in his career didn't test positive. I'd say that's pretty unusual.

There was elevated testosterone in that sample but no steroids found. All other ones all year tested normal.

If he really is a user, he'll probably get caught again (they always do). Until then, I think it is strange enough circumstances where I'm okay with this. I'd be okay with any other player in the same situation not getting a suspension.

I am too...except I liked giving my Brewer friends a hard time about Braun sticking needles in his butt and being out for the year.

I'm definitely overreacting to piss my friends off (not sure why I said the same thing here).

Braun's set up to look like a user though. Even though I think something fishy happened and we still only know a fraction of the facts (almost seems like we only know what the MLB wants us to know).

Without Prince hitting behind Braun this year, he will have his numbers fall because he wont be getting nearly as many good pitches. People will claim Roids helped him be great in his earlier years, people will be wrong.
