Hopefully it isn't true and that there was a severe mistake with the test. However, just makes me think who else out there is taking PED's...The drug testing system in place is not 100% foolproof.

I thought players that took PEDs turned into the Hulk. He doesn't look like superman. He looks like a normal person.

There are certain PEDs that can make you stronger while not making you look bigger. I believe A Rod took those kinds of PEDs.

HGH increases endurance, stamina and injury recovery. So do other boosters. Steroids do the same, but also help build muscle.

Normal people take this stuff and look normal. Its not uncommon.

I really don't care so much that he did them, but it's the fact that he's claiming there was a "terrible" mistake in the testing and he's "innocent" etc etc etc. He got busted for taking a banned substance, what it was right now is anyone's guess but that's the end of the story. The thing that upsets me the most is their first instinct is to always deny it. Figured they would have learned by now with all the Bonds, Mcguires, and Sosas that have come before it will always only make things worse. Either admit it or don't say anything, take the punishment, and move on. Even if he wasn't "juicing" he still was stupid enough to put something into his body that was against league rules.

I can bet if this was Bautista we would have heard about it the day it happened. I'd like to know who is involved in supressing this story.

What makes the story even stranger was the fact that he's been in the testing program for so long. The minor league program is 9 years old which means he's been getting tested since then and been clean the whole time. Wonder why all of a sudden he popped positive.

It's the norm to go through further investigations before the positive tests are officially announced. Manny Ramirez was busted in spring training, but the ban was only announced in May.

I would say all the excuses Braun is using right now have already been used during the investigation stage, and the league didn't buy them.

After Braun's initial test and failure he demanded a retest and passed, so it will be interesting to see what the arbitrator does. If he upholds the 50 game suspension or not. Normally I would condemn all people who test positive and want to lynch them, in this case i am going to wait until all the evidence is out there. Damien thankfully I haven't felt your pain, but if it ever comes out that Frank Thomas or Baines ever took steroids I will give up on baseball.

An independent lab in Montreal already confirmed the test.

I am no chemist but the way that the test is conducted is testosterone is tested along with epitestosterone.
The ratio should be about 1:1 in a normal person. If it is over 4:1 then that is a failed drug test. Brauns was 7:1 which indicates a very strong likely hood that the testosterone is synthetic.

What I find most funny is that Braun once bragged that if he did take steroids he would hit 70 HRs
He has never hit over 37.

PEDs don't "make you stronger." They make you recover faster.

And when depending on what PEDS they have used they die of an heart attack 20 years before their time or end up in a wheelchair because their muscles have given out, we can always say "hey they gave us a full season way back in 2011".
