Joe Paterno near death
https://plus.google.com/115509872711...ts/gop89tFJiQj
Probably not much doubt the last couple months have taken its toll his already fragile health. |

The biggest factor is certainly his radiation treatment. I have a grandmother of almost identical age, and she recently underwent six weeks of small dose radiation treatment in an attempt to shrink a small, relatively benign tumor.
It was nothing like the normal radiation treatment that is used to treat cancer, and the process weakened and exhausted her to the point that she sleeps 20 hours per day, hardly eats anything at all, and has declined dramatically. Paterno's treatment has probably been much more aggressive, so the outcome is probably more severe. It's probably too much to handle for someone who is already frail and has had other health issues. |

He was really old. He outlived Frank Sinatra. That's an accomplishment.
He wasn't the monster in the recent news. Without that guy (the sick man he didn't act upon) he'd have just been Joe Paterno. And nobody asks to have a monster come into their lives...most of all children...and secondly...old people. But back to Paterno...Let's remember him for what his life was, not what it wasn't. sorry but i'm not as sentimental. not that i would wish death upon anyone or am celebrating the fact that he died which I'm not, but I'm also not buying into the he was a legend we should remember him fondly etc etc etc. (If I'm the first a-hole that says this than so be it)
The guy was directly or at the very least indirectly responsible for the rape of multiple young boys, whatever legacy he had is ruined. I don't care about the good, I'm not a member of his family, a former player, or a penn stater. At the end of the day I'm a citizen who puts child rape as second most severe crime directly under homicide. As someone who is involved in collegiate athletics I can assure you there are far more deserving coaches and admins across the country, many that you guys have never heard of, (many at jucos and d2 and d3 schools) that are far more legendary than this guy. I'm going to remember Paterno for what he was not what I still want him to be. |

Sad news. JoePa, like Bear Bryant, will now have two things he is remembered for. He was a great football coach and he died very shortly after he retired.

I hope the media, and all those who relentlessly attacked Joe Paterno are happy. Us here in and near "Happy" Valley certainly are not.
R.I.P., Joe Pa. You were a great man, who did what you thought was best throughout your entire career!

You thanked RchW's post don't you think you should have taken his advice before posting this. I don't think anybody is glad he is dead media or forum poster, have to say though after watching my Auntie die through cancer he isn't in pain anymore and that maybe something to bring a small part of relief for his family from his death.
