You guys have now been beaten by four of the teams placed 10th or worse (Dragons, Titans, Panthers, Eels). That's bizarre. Although you also beat the Panthers in week 6.

Big win for my Tigers last night, but unfortunately the Bunnies' win streak came to an end...

How's James Graham doing ? Last couple of years at St Helens his head seemed to already be in Australia, they've even blamed St Helens poor season so far down to him leaving but that's rubbish.

I haven't really been following his progress but I was watching some of the Dogs-Rabbits game on Saturday night and from what the commentators said he has been fantastic for the club.

Do you keep up with the AFL, k_c? Since they also show those games on Fox Soccer Plus, I decided to start watching that, as well. I was watching a handy little 30 minute AFL primer show to get the hang of the game and the teams and decided while watching it that I would pick two teams to root for in the league. First, I chose Melbourne, partially because I like the blue and red team colors. I also decided that I would root for Sydney, as well.
Mind you, I made these choices before consulting the current ladder. I was slightly disappointed to learn that Melbourne was winless heading into this weekend. Still, I am a Cleveland Browns lifelong diehard fan, so I can cope with losing. Then I was lucky enough that the game they replayed on FSP this evening was heavily favored league leading Essendon against lowly and winless Melbourne. What a fantastic match. I was on the edge of my seat as the Demons pulled off the mammoth upset by a goal. Now that I know what's going on, I can see myself really enjoying Aussie rules football...

I'll try explaining it, though. Rugby league is the dominant sport in my state, New South Wales, and our northern neighbours, Queensland. Aussie rules is the dominant sport in Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia. Population wise, NSW and Queensland are ranked 1st and 3rd in Australia with Victoria 2nd and WA and SA 4th and 5th. But if you combine the populations of NSW and Qld, they exceed that of the other three states.
The people of Victoria are religious about Aussie Rules. It dominates their sports bulletins (on TV, radio and in print). They don't really give a crap about rugby league (except for those who are originally from NSW and Qld). They have had an NRL team in their capital city since '98 (Melbourne Storm), a team that has enjoyed a lot of success (even though they rorted the salary cap to achieve some of it), but that has still not changed their attitude about the sport. By comparison, people in NSW and Qld are more open-minded to the other football codes (soccer, aussie rules, rugby union). Even though rugby league is the #1 winter sport, we are much more accepting of and unbiased with the reporting of the different sports. My belief is that if the people of Victoria are so close-minded that they don't give a damn about rugby league, why should the people of NSW care about aussie rules? There is what could be best described as a "Code War" going on between aussie rules and league, as the AFL have recently expanded into Western Sydney (which is the heartland of rugby league in Sydney). The NRL is currently in negotiations for a new televison deal and the hope is they'll receive the same that the AFL did with their new deal last year ($1.25billion). Kind of the same over here with rugby, rugby league is a northern game were union is a southern game.

With the completion tonight of week thirteen, the first half of the season is over. Here's the standings. I'm amazed my Tigers have gone from 14th to 4th in the space of seven weeks.

Only one win out of 8th place, though. They are the most penalised team in the competition so if they can fix up that problem in the second half of the season they still have a chance.

Been on my feet in front of the TV in my lounge room.
![]() Incredible 1st half. But once again, NSW not taking their chances. All the errors they've made have been in attacking positions. They dominated most of the half and then one mistake at the end of it and Queensland are in front. Farah is tackling his ass off. Very proud of the Tigers captain.

Bit unsure bout that last try but imo evened itself out as I'd have given a penalty try.

No surprise
He comes from good stock, I think I'm right in saying that the ukhotstove sports brand won the first OTSCC. There was also Hank McMullen a linebacker from Notre Dame who was drafted the number 1 pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the OTFL. We also had a driver in the OT FIA GT Championship finishing 3rd in his first season and also winning his debut race at the Australian GP at Oran Park.
