MLB Media Coverage

I am a former member of the broadcast media, and have a question regarding how baseball is covered. It seems to me, (and this may just be perception) the American League usually takes prcedence when it comes to "how" the MLB is covered. I am not sure why other than to say the Yankees and Red Sox are both in the AL. If you watched the release of today's PECOTA projections on the MLB Network, you'll notice they begin coverage with the AL East.

Any thoughts? Is this a real phenomenon, or is it my imagination. If you think the media DOES in fact concentrate it's coverage more so on the AL, why do you think so?

Alphabetical? AL comes before NL. For that matter, East comes before West.

The AL East is generally considered the "group of death" in MLB.

I think that's more it. Most NFL publications I read do the same thing. They start w/the AFC & work their way west. NBA previews usually starts in the east. College previews usually go in alphabetical order by conference name. The only time I see anything different is when previews go by worst to first or visa versa.

But ESPN does have a bias towards the Yanks/RSox thanks to their prejudices & hype machine. They fabricated the importance of the rivalry & it helped ratings for a moment. But ruined the national audience when those 2 weren't there at the finish. Short term gain, long term disaster. Living in Connecticut gave them a myopic view of MLB. They did the same to the NBA when MJ retired & will do the same once LeBron leaves. Golf's ratings went down the tube w/o Tiger. The NFL, until this season, was immune to any ratings drop off, largely due to the fact they never let the networks run the product like all the other sports let the networks do.
