So who's gonna coach Kansas?
Well, Williams went back home to North Carolina. Will Kansas go for someone known and respected, or will they take a chance on somebody younger?

They'd be crazy not to hire Bey, unless that unfortunate incident with the sophomore cheerleader gets leaked to the media...

Probably Bill Slef, but if I were them I would go after Tom Crean or Mark Few.

I hope Bill Self doesn't leave the Illini. His teams are getting very close to making some serious noise.

What about Tim Floyd? He's still floating around isn't he? He was like a fish out of water coaching the post-Jordan Bulls, but I thought he was great at Iowa State.

I haven't heard Floyd's name mentioned at all, so if he's a darkhorse he's a real darkhorse.
Bey now has 17 national titles--I think he's gonna get a close look. |

If I had to wager on someone, it would be Self, though it's far from a sure thing at this point, IMHO.
As for Floyd, last I heard was that he was holding off on the Clemson and Georgia jobs, waiting to see if the Memphis job came open when the whole "Calipari is Pitt's leading candidate" scatstorm started. What's he doing now? I dunno, but if I were him, I'd just be thankful I didn't end up going to Clemson or Georgia. Neither of those jobs are particularly attractive right now, to say the least. |

Actually, I'm kind of holding out hope that Tim Floyd is still available when Mike Davis gets fired from/leaves Indiana next year after the Hoosiers miss the tournament/lose in the first round...
I love the fact that Davis erased most of the pain of the Bob Knight debacle with that great run to the 2002 national finals, but I think I had about as much to do with the Hoosiers success as the head coach did. That, and I hear he's a Matt Doherty-like emotional wreck and has an icy relationship with most of the players. Sorry to drag the thread off-topic. I can't talk college basketball for long before bringing Indiana into the conversation...

Agreed about Davis. He looks to be unraveling.

If he starts wearing red sweaters, it'll be time to replace him.

I hate to see this. The Illini were looking like they'd take the next step to an elite level with Self at the helm.
Kansas must have made the pot nice and sweet, because Self was gonna make good money with the new deal he'd signed at Illinois last December. |

Yah, Kansas must have shelled out some bucks. Self was getting a team at Illinois that was going to have a shot at the national title.
So, who's gonna coach Illinois? |

If I were Illionois, I would first try to get Crean. Then, if I could not get him, I would go for Mark Few. Both good young coaches.
