Santana and Clemens. RJ is a great pitcher, but he's 14-13. There's no precedent for that. Clemens was awesome tonight: 8 IP, 2 H, 10Ks in a 1-0 game. If he wins 20, he's a lock.

There's plenty of precedence for ignorance, finally, being slain by knowledge. Who knows, someday there may be be Hispanics in Texas.

Johnson has been light years better than Clemens this year. He is significantly better than any other pitcher in the National League.

No, he's not a lock, because Carl Pavano got the same number of wins now, and got virtually the same ERA.

but pavano hasnt won 6 previous times, is not on his farwell tour, is not as high profile, and doesnt have a "story" behind him winning it (retires, comes back after "totally shutting it down", dominates, and wins another Cy, "see a 42 year old can bring it" )

Is he eligible for FA or arbitration?

I believe he has two more years of arbitration-eligibility. And with the Joe Mays fiasco and Santana having bone chips in his shoulder/elbow (don't remember) I'm not sure the Twins will sign him quite yet.

But they'll have to pay huge sum through arbitration. The Twins already missed the chance to pay Santana cheap anyway.

I've been touting Carlos Guillen for AL MVP for quite some time, but I think I'd vote for Santana now.

No ... if Boston wins it will be Curt S.

Maybe .... if Boston loses .... tight vote between Schilling, Santana, Mulder, and Rogers.

Mulder and Rogers are no longer in the race any more.

Just Schilling and Santana. And really Schilling has no business being involved. Just Johan.
