Swallows 6, BayStars 5

At Yokohama Stadium, Akinori Iwamura hit a tie-breaking two-run homer off Takeo Kawamura (4-3) with two out in the ninth inning as Yakult overcame a late scare to edge Yokohama in a 25-hit slugfest.

So does Japanese baseball follow sabermetric principles, or is it a place where men are men and clutch is clutch?

They are big fans of productive outs.

And clutch is CLUTCH.

Simple proof: in Japanese baseball video games, you'd got all those hitters whose ability would double or triple when the game is on the line. Not like OOTP can represent Ross Gload like that.

BayStars 5, Swallows 5

At Yokohama Stadium, Tyrone Woods hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as the BayStars and Yakult played to a in a game called after eight innings due to rain.

This with a loss by the Tigers, lift the Swallows out of last place.
