Brewers @ Astros - July 23, 2004

I got to see Roger Clemens pitch for the third time this season, and he should be 0-3 in those games. His team bailed him out of 2 of the games, including Friday night's against the Brew Crew, but the Astros lost both games.

The Rocket looked good for about 5 innings after giving up a leadoff HR to Scott Posednik, but he self-destructed in the 6th. Clemens gave up a solo shot to Keith Ginter, and a three-run bomb to Ben Grieve ... yes, Ben Grieve.

The Astros rallied, tying the game in the 7th, only to see closer Brad Lidge try to give the game away in the eigth (runners on 2nd & 3rd, 0 out), and finally succeed in giving it away in the ninth on a sac fly by Wes Helms. Mr. Automatic Dan Kolb registered the save for Milwaukee.

Since we had already seen the Brewer once this season, and since it was a Friday (which meant that the gates opened 1/2 hour earlier than normal), we decided to start things off on the Astro side for once. It was well worth it, as I got several good pics out of it.

Astros' (and Nashville Hermitage) manager Phil Garner:

After Houston was done with BP, we worked our way back to the Milwaukee side. There weren't many players I was interested in, but managed to get a couple pics.

It was getting pretty boring watching all the nameless Brewers, so we had a bolde freedom inishutive. We would hax into the bullpen section to catch Clemens warming up before the game. The hax was successful, if you count telling the truth to the usher when she asked to see our tickets ('Just gonna snap a few pics') as haxxing. o0xt!!

Believe me when I tell you it was well worth it. We got to the pen early enough that we were one of the first few there, and I managed to get within a few feet of the bullpen mounds. Here are some of the better pics I got once the Rocket arrived to warm up.

One final pic. I captured Clemens in the middle of his delivery once, and it threw the picture all out of whack, creating a huge blur. However, I think the pic turned out looking pretty cool.
