Needed: Park Factors for every MLB stadium, since 1900
Does anyone have any idea on how I can get Park Factors (Batter and Pitcher, at the least), for each season, each stadium since 1900? I know Bill James uses them in his Historical Abstract and there are PFs in the Lahman DB but the two differ quite a bit. To me, the Bill James' number seem more accurate. I was wondering if someone had any idea on how I can get them or even raw numbers to which I would have to do the calculations to get my PFs... Any help is very much appreciated.

The park factors at Baseball-Reference.com appear to go back as far as you need. I don't know offhand how accurate those numbers are, but they do have both batting and pitching factors.
EDIT: Check out this link: http://baseball-reference.com/about/parkadjust.shtml

What about Retrosheet? They've got park factors for every ballpark ever used (though I don't think it's the same kind of park factor you're after, given your comments).
If it isn't the right park factor, there are the raw stats for many parks (At Bats, Hits, Doubles, Triples, Home Runs, Walks, Strikeouts, Batting Average, and Slugging Percentage). You can find it on the "RetroLinks" on the left side of the main page. Under "Boxscores" select "Ballparks" and in the second paragraph of the introduction there is a link that'll take you to a list of every ballpark that's hosted an MLB game. From there you can select a park and get its stats that are available. |
