Bio from the board game

Lightweight Champion from 1926-1930. Sammy Mandell was not a great slugger but he stopped opponents with his aggressive style. He wasn't a great boxer yet he decisioned two great fighters while defending his crown, beating Jimmy McLarnin and Tony Canzoneri. Mandell didn't do anything very well - except win. |
