McVea was also called "The Oxnard Ox". A vicious puncher with a chin like marble, McVea was built along the lines of Smokin' Joe Frazier, and was as much a force within his era as Joe was in the '60s and early 70s.

The 33 ko's in just over 50 fights is pretty impressive. He faught Johnson and other greats many times.
