After a slow end to the summer, we're back in business
Saturday: Twelve-bout ammy card in Glastonbury Sept. 29: Dawson-Diacanu for the LH title in Cali. Oct 12: The return of WBC Youth featherweight champ Matt Remillard (11-0, 7 KO)!! Card is at Twin River, the former Lincoln Dog Track in Lincoln, R.I. His opponent is TBA. Jason Estrada and IWBF Featherweight champ Jaime Clampitt are expected on the card. Nov. 16: Mike Oliver (20-0, 9 KO) vs. Gerry Penalosa (52-6-2) at the Connecticut Expo Center. I'm not certain, but I'm guessing the winner gets a mandatory against beltholder Stevie Molitor. Oliver is the IBF No. 2 contender in the jr. feathers and the 1-spot is vacant.

SACRAMENTO, Calif—World Boxing Council No. 1-ranked mandatory challenger Adrian “The Shark” Diaconu, scheduled to fight for a title against WBC lightweight champion “Bad” Chad Dawson at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, suffered a training injury on Thursday forcing him to pull out of the Sept. 29 match.
Dangerous light heavyweight knockout artist Epifanio Mendoza (28-4-1, 24 KOs), from Barranquilla, Colombia, has agreed to replace Diaconu and will face Dawson in the Sept. 29 main event.

Estrada being shown as a 12-rounder, would be his first. Mesi is a 10-rounder. There are nine fights as of right now on the card.

Not for nothing but i'm now beginning to understand why Chris is so critical towards CES. Why would any promotion want to invest in Joe Mesi and even Jason Estrada for that matter? Whoever is running the show there can't judge talent to save their lives.

What are the odds of Mesi pulling out of the fight with an injury within the next couple of weeks? I'll believe he's on the card when I see him in the ring. Let's see what Remillard has after a year on the shelf.

Elvin Ayala Back in Action
New Haven local MW Elvin Ayala 18-2-0 (8) will challange Contender Season 1 winner Sergio Mora 19-0-0 (4) on October 16 at the Home Depot Center in in Carson, CA.
Supposedly this will be the first "Live" broadcast of boxing shown on ESPN Classic. Headlining the card will be Alfonso Gomez (the guy who retired Arturo Gatti) 17-3-2 (8) taking on wiley veteran Ben Tackie 29-7-1 (17).

Negotiations underway for Dawson-Tarver . . Showtime is involved; possibly April in Vegas
Hartford's Mike Oliver (20-0, 9 KOs) expects to fight Nov. 8 at Mohegan Sun against Al Seeger (27-2, 21 KOs) of Savannah, Ga., not in Hartford Nov. 16 against Gerry Penalosa as previously announced.

Penalosa is lon in the tooth but might have been a good challange. I don't know anything about this Seeger fellow though.
Good to hear about Dawson! I won't hold my breath but that would be a welcomed development.

This should be an interesting fight for Mike-Mike. It looks like Seeger is a big puncher.

I'm not trying to discredit Erdei's reign but his ledger in the last four years is not that great. Until he steps out of Hungary/Germany and fights someone with a pulse on the world stage, i'll pay attention.
