I forgot to mention that Remillard had another win last week. Thunder sent me a nice article but I couldn't quickly find the link again and haven't the time to track it down right now.

This opponent had a bit of a pulse and Matt got in a full 6 rounds which is great for him. He fights again in about three weeks. Jackie Kallen has said that she wants him to fight outside the Northeast later this year (likely Chicago or Detroit and the west if I recall the article correctly) so I hope that I can see him again before that happens. I would guess that he won't be fighting here much at all once his contract with Clown Promotions in Providence is up - especially with his manager based in Detroit. They have more important things to do anyway, like hype Godfrey

I found a different article from our hometown paper here.

And here is the pre-fight article.

I'll try to be more timely with the next fight. This kid is fun to watch, who knows how far he'll go but I'm rooting for him.

Matt was actually the swing fight for TV, but didn't make it. I couldn't get down for the bouts, but was rooting like hell for at least one quick KO, but was not meant to be.

Matt is back May 10 at the 'Woods . . .road trip Chris??

Well, Remillard is on tomorrow night and I can't go.

Boxrec still has not posted his opponent; Thunder dug the name up for me a few weeks back but I have forgotten who it is supposed to be.

Root for an early KO in one of the two TV bouts!

(Not sure if he's the swing fight again, but looking at the card, I'd say there's a shot).

Ok, horrific timing on my part. I was at work last night and popped on the TV just as, much to my surprise, they were going to the decision in the Remillard fight.

Then, I loaded myself full of the jumbo sized hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts on the way home to stay awake for the 2 a.m. replay. It didn't work. I dozed off and awoke to see the main event fighters coming to the ring.

I know Teddy Atlas had it an even bout, can anyone hit me with their thoughts . . or better, a DVD or Video tape??

Thanks

I haven't found an account of the fight yet but here is a pre-fight article from the JI about his problems with the promoter and the size of the opponents that he has been given.

http://www.journalinquirer.com/site/...d=578011&rfi=6

Looks like last night might have been a scare.

From the article:

"I don't want Matt to keep fighting guys in the 130s,'' Cichon said. "They knew we were fighting on this card six weeks ago and they still couldn't get a true featherweight. That's why we're having a team meeting.''

I was curious as to why his KO rate has gone down. He needs some Feather's and it doesn't sound like he even cares about moving up ever.

I tuned in and they were talking about George Godfrey and I see this cruiserweight and he knocks out this other guy and I'm thinking, "Wow! A cruiserweight named George Godfrey!" Then I slowly realize his opponent's name is Shaun George and he is Matt Godfrey. Oh well.

"Oh well" is about the impression Godfrey made on me in February as well Cap.

Hey:

Does anyone know about this card in Hyanis on June 8th or so? In the article about Remillard it was mentioned that he might be on the card and if I read it correctly, the bouts will be staged under a tent. If that's true, I want to be there. My wife even says that she would go!

I almost don't care who's on the card if it's an open air venue.

That's news to me. What's his name Will?

If he is from a family that has moved into town in the last 15 years, I may not know him.

Tony Grano. He's 25 . . wrestled at RHAM.
He's 4-0 (4) and was also on the undercard Wednesday.

I graduated from RHAM 15 years before he did but I don't even recognize the family name. I would bet that his folks moved to Hebron in the late early nineties when the big growth spurt started.

I'll ask my Dad if knows them.

I saw Eric Harding's last bout, he looked slick as ever and pretty sharp. Tonight he looked a little used up.
However, Chad Dawson, as commontators said many times, went from prospect to contender. It was a solid W for him.
