I'm going for sure . .Chris+1, maybe . . . if we get up a solid headcount, I'll get tickets. If I get them from Matt (or at least at his gym), he gets a few bucks, so that's how I'm going. I'm going to wait 7-10 days just be a little safer, though.

stay in touch

I'm definitely in. I'll probably go up w/ my stepfather, so I'll need 2 tickets. I'll PM you w/ my e-mail so you can send me info when you get it.

I'll likely be in for two Will, but I want to wait at least another week to see if there is a shift on the card.

The card:

Jason Estrada (6-0) vs. Cliff Couser (26-10-2), Heavy, 6
Pretty good opponent for a CES guy in Pro Bout #7. Plus he's lined up to fight Travis Walker (21-0-1) in November! Wow, maybe they've been listening to us!

Pito Cardona (35-6) vs. Shajka Moore (9-10), Welter, 6
Second comeback bout for Pito, former USBA and NABF lightweight champ

Mike Oliver (15-0) vs. Oscar DeLaCruz (4-3), Jr. Feath, 8
Oliver is 26 and six years into pro career . . .time for a step up maybe?

Enrique Palau (4-0) vs. James North (8-13-2), Jr. Middle, 4
Young fighter out of Worcester has 4 KO

Tony Grano (4-0) vs. TBA, Heavy, 4
Grano won New England Golden Gloves title in 2004

Matt Remillard (10-0) vs. Jose Hernandez (6-0)
For WBC Youth Super Featherwight Title, 10

Matt Remillard: “From the first time I signed as a pro I’ve wanted to fight here. This is the place I was born and the place where I’ll win my first title. Were going to pack the house and hopefully do more shows here. I feel great. I’m in great shape. I moved up to 130 pounds. I’ll be a true 130-pounder, faster and stronger. We’re here to help bring Hartford into a new era of boxing.”

Matt Godfrey (12-0) vs. Danny Batchelder (24-2-1)
For three Continental Cruiser belts, 12

Tickets are $35 to $150.
Guys, if the best seat in the house is $150, I'm leaning in that direction.

I'm wanting to go to the matches here in Louisville this weekend but I can't find who else is on the card other than Greenberg and McCall.

That's great! Like you, I'm more interested in Estrada than Godfrey too.

I'll be down for the good seats though it may cut my cousin out. He can afford it but is not a huge fight fan. I'll shoot him an email and see how he feels.

Mike - nice photo!

I say "Twin Tyson" and Batchelder will beat the overhyped Estrada and Godfrey. CES finally got them into the ring with opponents that have a pulse. Remillard will win a close fight with Hernandez but it will be good experience for Matt.

The Greenberg and McCall fights look interesting but Roman from last I checked still didn't have an opponent. Oliver should take out Darrol Wilson within a few rounds.

If you get the $150 seats, I'm definitely in for 1 (I just can't swing $300 for 2 right now). If you get tickets at any lower price range, I'll be in for 2.

I'll see what the floorplan/costs are and see what we can get. To me, $75-$100 and a few rows up is better than $150 and at the back of the floor.

Chris and I went to a public workout today held outdoors in downtown Hartford to promote the cards. It's too bad the promotion wasn't better promoted, about 75-100 people were there. But that was ok, gave us a chance to BS with the fighters. Matt Remillard, Pito Cardona and Mike Oliver all his the mitts for three rounds each with trainer John Scully. It was fun.

Good times indeed but I am sorry that I am not going to make the fight Saturday.

Matt said that he is definitely heading west (perhaps Detroit first) after this fight. Too bad for us Nutmeggers.

By the way, in case I failed to ever mention this before, Remillard hits hard.

He really, really pounds the mitts for 130 pounds. It's hard to portray this for anyone that wasn't there, but the echo across what was a fairly open space was pretty impressive.

Now, I just hope he wins. This is a huge bout. I know he can fight (ranked No. 5 by USA boxing in his weight when he turned pro), but he's pretty much fought 10 cans and you can only develop so much that way. He's working more with John Scully and talking about going West, so I think he knows what he needs.

I am going after all! Will is supposed to be picking up tickets this morning.

Predictions:

Remillard TKO 7

Estrada DEC 6

Cardona TKO 4

Oliver DEC 8

Grano TKO 2 (If they find a stiff to slot in there, an opponent was listed at Boxrec but CES had an urgent note on their website looking for a HW opponent yesterday)

Batchelder DEC 12

Remillard should take out Hernandez within six rounds. I'm still sticking with my prediction that Couser and Batchelder will score decision upsets over the hyped prospects.

Anyone get a chance to talk to John Scully and find out if Clay Bey is still fighting?

Nuts.

I was within 5 to 10 feet of him for over an hour. I knew there was something I was forgetting. We were having too much fun watching Pito's 5 year old kid protect Daddy's water bottle from a thirsty Matt Remillard. (Memo to CES: Fighters get thirsty working out in the noon-day sun, bring water!)

That was pretty funny . . . Chris, Romul and I are all set for tix. Should be fun. Due to some uncertainty, we didn't all get tix together, but Chris and I are in Row 5 and Rom I think is way back in Row 6 or 7

LOL. That is soooo funny! CES should be able to provide their guys with water. Would definitely like to see Clay Bey fight again, even if he is not a title contender. I thought he had won the fight with Derek Bryant. It was very close, though.

Believe it or not, I scored that 96-95 (I think) for Byant. But it was too close to call. Bryant pitter-pattered all night while Clay-Bey threw sporadic bombs. Tough to score, but I think there may have been a tad of home town favoritism going on. Bryant was boring to watch though - 'One Man Riot' indeed.
