Boxers Missing???

Hello
I am new to this forum, But I have been playing Title bout(Avalon Hill Board game) since I was 16(early 1980's) i still have my boxer cards!. I must say that I am still hooked on this game, at age 40. TB2 is the best boxing sim ever! My question is how come certain boxers are missing from certain weight classes? Example Greb(mw), Sugar ray leonard(ww), Henry armstrong(lw, fw) Julio Cesar Chavez(lw) Alexis Arguello(lw, fw)? These fighters were in more than 1 wt. class in the previous version of title bout. Am i missing something, or do i have to manually input them? Thanks

In most cases the ratings are combined onto a single file. Go to the fighters ratings page and in the top box there could be different ratings, just click the def button for which weight you want to use. Hopefully I explained that well enough.

I can't believe how many people on this board have played the game for so many years. In fact, there are several of us who are now 40 who have played this game since the late 70's and early 80's. It's nice to know that you guys have been out there for so long.

Here's to you and the Trunzo's. As we used to say in the 80's, Rock on!

I'm a huge table gamer and own a copy of Title Bout along with around 20 other games of varius sports. The two I enjoyed most, when I had that kind of time was: Title Bout and Pro Football Phantasm.

I also began my Title Bout Journey in 1979 after finding the game on the shelf in an old-time Hobbie store. It was the first and last time I ever saw the board game on a shelf. You don't see those kind of hobby shops around too much anymore. They had model planes, trains and cars. Comic books. A section with roleplaying games, sports games, etc. The whole place was wall-to-wall hobby "stuff."

That was the year I also found "Boot Hill" a Wild West Roleplaying game.

Now, everything is basically on a PC or Gaming System. One thing about the 70's and even part of the 80's... you could still find "unique" things in "unique places." I guess that's why eBay is so popular now. It's one of the last places to find unusual things.

It's good to see small gaming companies (like OOTP) coming back via the Internet. They're the modern version of the "Old-Time" game shops.

Wow,what memories that picture brings back....hours and hours of title bout and apba baseball(when I used to enjoy baseball)! I would love to find a good football sim...one with real players and the ability to call each play. Apba used to have one in the early 90's....havent seen it around lately. Anyone know of any good football sims?

Good Morning!

Just a little walk down memory lane, if I may. When I was a kid, a bunch of us used to play a table-top wrestling game that we ordered from some wrestling magazine. It actually wasn't too bad. It followed the standard table top format. The main thing I remember is that one of my stable guys was Ric Flair and he was tough to beat. My friend had Michael Hayes (from the old Freebirds) and he was the only one that would beat Flair once in awhile. I don't think I've watched a pro wrestling match since then but the memories are there.

Next was stratomatic baseball. Played for hours, days, and years. Right up until my family got a Commodore 64! Thats when I discovered Micro League Baseball (mid-late 80s). Loved that game. I would still constantly look for a boxing computer game. I would actually write letters to Mico League Sports requesting they make a boxing game. I went through my share of cheesy, bad graphic computer boxing games until I discovered Lance Haffner TKO Pro Boxing in KO magazine! My simulation game life hasn't been the same since, and it only keeps getting better with every modification done to the game.

My earliest memory of TKO Pro Boxing is that Mike Tyson could beat everyone except Evander Holyfield (this was early in Holyfield's HW career; when everyone was talking about the possibility of Tyson-Holyfield). Tyson would KO Mitch Green, Tyrell Biggs, Michael Dokes, Buster Douglas, etc. Then, he'd run into the "Real Deal" and it woudn't even be close. Evander would consistently stop him inside of 6 rounds (even a couple 1st round stopages). At the time, it seemed unrealistic sometimes, but what kept the realism of the game was that Evander would loose to others. He just seemed to have Tyson's number in the game. Looking back, and considering all thats happened since then in the world of HW boxing, it was almost disturbingly realistic. Anyone else have memories that stick out from their early simulation leagues? What would life be without simulation games of any and all types?

Thanks for listening.....

I, too, am a late 70's Title Bout addict complete with my old game (actually the 3rd version I've had) on the bookshelf in my office.

I was in high school at the time & had promised my mom that I would get a full-time job for the summer. While pounding the pavement I passed a game store & figured it would be a great place to work. They didn't have any job openings, but they did have a great selection of Avalon Hill board games. I walked away jobless but with a cool looking new boxing game.

Needless to say, that summer I spent a whole lot more time flipping cards then flipping burgers.
