Re: 24 tackles

Funny moment from the broadcast was when one of the guys said something like so-and-so made his 77th tackle . . You knew they were kidding, but it was funny . . .made even funnier when about 30 seconds later he said "78" (or some such silly numbers)

Funny in a different way when on the last drive they said they wished they had last year's kicker still around who graduated . . . then they couldn't remember his name . . . or say what he was up to

Good game tonight. We won 27-7. Nate had a great game. 3 catches for 86 yards and another touchdown. 3 carries for 14 yards at RB, then played QB on the last drive and had another 5 carries for 23 yards.

He has 8 catches for 183 yards and 2 TD's on the season now. Little sophomore QB we have had another good night was 10-13 for around 186 and a couple of TD's.

We had some injuries and suspensions. Tony Knox our top RB got a concussion (maybe) on the first drive and didn't play again the rest of the game. He had concussion problems last year too.

DeSales was a 2A team (ranked 9th in 2A) and we are 4A but they played 5A Doss (a team who was in our district last year) last week and only lost 37-35, so it was a very good win for us.

In fact it was spread out so much that our leading rusher had 91 yards and no back had more than 6 carries. We averaged just over 11 yards per carry, which makes me quite happy.

Hell, we even went 4-7 passing for 51 yards and a TD.....I actually called 10 pass plays (QB scrambled on 3) during the game which is really airing out for me! Who knows what I was thinking there

Here is a pretty cool picture of the game in the 2nd quarter as the sun is just starting to set....We are in the White jerseys.
Congrats on the big win man. Man, when you get pound the ball like that who needs to pass.

Great win and great game by Nate. So if Knox can't go next week will Nate get more carries or will they go to someone else.

We have a plethora of RB's. Really only 2 WR. I'm not including Nate in any of that because of his versatality you never know where he will end up. Nate is easily the best WR on the team but they seem to like to play another kid who is 5 inches taller than Nate. He is out with a sprained ankle. Nate, Tony and Claine Reisinger are all pretty even at RB. Then we have Curtis who was out for discipline reasons tonight.

So I don't think the WR is scheduled back next week so if Tony can't go then Nate will probably start at wideout and Claine and Curtis at RB. But I bet he will get some carries if Tony is out.

Him going in at QB tonight was pretty much to run out the clock. The sophomore QB is a very good passer but not so much a runner. Nate has the best hands on the team so they just snapped it to him and he ran. He played QB up until he came here to Bullitt East.

He played both ways almost the whole game tonight. Much cooler night here in Louisville. 80 and a breeze.

I listed to bits and pieces of the game, broadcast team seemed a little better than last week.

Forgot to mention, last week you got a quasi-mention.
"I talked to Nate's dad and he said . . . . "

don't remember exactly, but it was regarding a minor injury

Hmmm cool I missed that .. he has the stinger problem with his shoulder but it's been fine so far. I listen to the game on the radio when we are home but it cuts out about 10 miles outside of Mount Washington. I listened to all of last nights.

One of the broadcasters is our neighbor. He made a funny comment about Nate last night.

Nate took a good helmet shot to the facemask on a kick return, he bounced right back up and went to the huddle. They said "Tough shot on Hanson on that return and he just bounced back up" Then the Neighbor throws in "I don't think Hanson is smart enough to know that was supposed to hurt".

He's a good dude with two smoking hot daughters (19 and 15) ... so he give Nate crap all the time here at home.

Great win Mike! Our varsity won 45-0...In fact as a program we outscored Maryvale 126-7 with over 900 yards on the ground between Frosh, JV and Varsity....Of course I got crap for the Freshman allowing the only points

Every one of the 57 Kids we had suited for the game played though and they scored against our 4th string......The Head varsity Coach is just jealous since they don't have a 4th string

Well we moved up a spot in the 5A2 rankings this week. It would be cool if it stays like this as Centennial is in our region and they are the defending state Champs....it would really make our game later in the Season quite interesting. We have a couple of tough games before then though, notably Pinnacle this week, who also runs Wing-T, (a more wide open version though) so they will be well versed in defending it. Then game 4 will be against 5A1 power Mesa HS who is lurking just outside of the top 5 in that classification.

24-7Football.com Rankings (9/2/2007)
5A1
1- Hamilton (1-0)
2- Chandler (1-0)
3- Red Mountain (1-0)
4- Dobson (2-0)
5- Mt. View (2-0)
5A2
1- Centennial (1-0)
2- Westview (1-0)
3- Sunnyside (1-0)
4- Goldwater (1-0)
5- Marcos de Niza (1-0)
4A1
1- Saguaro (1-0)
2- Chaparral (2-0)
3- Peoria (1-0)
4- Cactus (1-0)
5- Sabino (1-0)
4A2
1- Mingus (2-0)
2- Notre Dame (1-0)
3- Coronado
4- Washington (1-1)
5- Kellis (1-0)

Congrats on the #2 ranking. We are #6. I think we could win out and not get much higher. Here in Kentucky they rank based on what you've done in the past not what you are doing now.

Perfect example is Boyle County who is currently 0-2 and ranked 3rd. If you date back to the start of this thread when we put them out of the 2005 playoffs, they are 6-9 over their last 15 games. But since they had won 5 of the last 6 state championships before that, they get ranked high.

They could end the season 3-7 and still be ranked in the top 10.

I understand how reputation factors into local rankings, but that's a little much. It happens around here, but by mid-season if it's obvious a defending champ isn't championship material anymore, they'll be gone.

Well after an 0-2 start the excuses are well we played the #1 5A team and the #4 6A team. Good excuses but the first 5 teams they play are ranked. Will they still use that excuse when they are 0-5.
