You're in a tough situation right now. Sounds like Centre offers much more academically, but knowing Nate has a better offer financially at G-Town has to be tempting.

Where is his heart right now?

He wants to go to Georgetown but I think for all the wrong reasons ... my guy feeling is he won't be happy there and will end up at home going to Louisville. But at the end of the day it is his decision to make.

I hope I am wrong.

I went ahead and paid $30 for a website that should have unlimited upload capabilities ... it is currently uploading Nate's highlight film but it is showing 1:28 hours left on it .. hopefully it works and you guys can see Nate in action ... I almost feel like some of you are extended family when it comes to him.

Oh Yeah ... it is going to be Centre .... He talked to a former football player who is now a lawyer and loved the conversation ... I'll figure out the $$$.

Good deal, education is obviously big to Nate. Congrats on raising a fine son and also for doing whatever it takes to help put him through school.

Can't wait for the vids!!

I could not ask for a better son ... even his mistakes are easy to deal with. I wish everyone could have one kid that brings them as much joy as Nate does me.

I have no $$$$ what so ever but between loans (in Nate's name) and the two jobs I am working and Kelly busting her butt at her job, somehow he will get to Centre ...

Besides I always joke that my goal in life is to live off my dad for my first 40 years and my son for my next 40 ... it would be a lot easier if he has a Centre education.

The guy who talked to Nate had a 2.9 grade average at Centre and the biggest law firm in Cincinnati footed his law school bill. He is 6 years removed from Centre (3 from law school??) and making 6 figures ... pretty much a no brainer IMO.

here is his highlight clip ... not too bad of quality ... for those who don't know Nate is #7 ... he is the focal point of all the plays though.

Three hours to go till Spring Break.

Our director of student services has circulated an email about a student who is interested in formiing a boxing club requesting a faculty member to volunteer to serve as moderator.

Guess who responded to this and tossed their hat into the ring. Will be talking with the student after spring break. It is encouraging that one of our younger students is interested in boxing.

I enjoyed the film. Reminds me of my little brother, had he stayed in the books he would have been division 1A in football or track. 6'3 195lbs. ran a 4.3 40.

I wish Nate well in college and hope you all find the means to get him where he wants to go.

Thanks Brooks ... we got a letter today saying he was 1 of 30 to win a scholarship that is worth 16k a year for 4 years. It will override the National Merit Scholarship which was 7.5k ... which if I understand it correctly it moves him 8.5k closer to the tution. He was 11k short .... Kel and I can afford about 6k a year, so he should be good.

Let me preface this by saying I am not doubting you ... but 40 times are never believeable. A pro scout once said that there are about 5 players in the NFL that run a real 4.4. Yet we are supposed to believe that there are hundreds in college and thousands in high school that beat that.

Nate is one of the faster kids I've seen in person and his computer timed 40 in Velocity training was 4.56. When he questioned it the trainer said the stop watch takes off about .2 seconds. So by a stop watch he would have ran a 4.36.

*** I would like to say I really appreciate all of you following along with me the last 3 years .. it has been very therapeutic for me to discuss things here. I never realized that the recruiting game would be this interesting. It's nice to have a sounding board ****

We got the Centre Financial package today and he is $8500 short of the $37k total costs. Kel and I could afford that but he will probably get a loan for it. He has been told if we pay it we wouldn't be able to give him much of anything (gas $, spending $, food $ and so on). He'd rather have us be able to give him things then have to work constantly.

They will probably hold a signing thing at his school in the next week or two. I will post the local article when they do.

He is having a little news deal next Wednesday with the local newspaper there. The Centre coaches couldn't come down because they can't be in a picture with Nate. Coach Frakes who is recruiting Nate was told by the AD that he couldn't come but he is supposively sending a jersey and helmet for him.

I just overnighted some Centre T-Shirts for the family.

Here is the article about incoming freshman on the Centre site from last year. I'll be watching for it this year. We are paying his deposit next week.

Great stuff Mike, that is really cool that the school sets things up like that and Centre sent down a Jersey.

You and Kelly both look so proud, and justifiably so

A great day, Mike, one that you all will remember for years! I'm looking forward to the continuation of this thread and to great times at Centre for Nate. I remember starting college 40 years ago, and to some of the great friends I made that have stood the test of time. Best wishes to you all!

Glad to see this day finally come. I'm sure your son is relieved too. Congrats Mike.
