If anyone wants to listen to some real homers, check 'em out. It's pretty comical. Tie game at half, 14-14 after Bullitt East went up 14-0.

Brutal loss, Mike. Hang in there!

I'll let him tell you the gory details (he probably needs the therapy), but briefly a 21-20 loss. Nate goes 80 yards (hard to tell, broadcast is so pathetic) for a fourth-quarter score and the extra point didn't go as planned.

Ouch, that sounds rough. I can't think of a worse way to lose a football game then big play/blown extra point route. Tough break to y'all boys Mike hopefully y'all have better luck next week.

We played a pretty good game against a pretty good team so not too upset. Tough way to lose on a partially blocked extra point that still came real close to going through. Their QB was really good.

Nate played pretty well. He had 5 catches for 97 yards highlighted by an 82 yard TD, which he made a great cutback and just outran everyone. The broadcast is homers because it's a Mt. Washington radio station. They are usually pretty solid but it might have been difficult being up high instead of close to the field like they are at Bullitt East.

Nate also threw an interception on a trick play! Didn't play RB at all, which is fine by me since his shoulder is hurt. Played pretty well on D with a couple of tackles.

Thanks for taking an interest guys!

Ya I was probably too tough on them. I guess they were far away, still would have been nice to get basic stuff like yardage on scores, down and yards to go more frequently, etc.

what was up with the punt formation on the last play??

fumbleruski type play. What happened is the play ended with 1:28 on the clock. Coach had told the kids if they don't get the first down they were going to run that play so be prepared. One kid had his head up his rear and didn't run onto the field so with 1:04 left the coach had to burn one of his 3 timeouts and that was pretty much that.

His mistake was after he had to burn the timeout he should have just gone for it instead of pulling the fake punt. Coach made some bad calls tonight. The worst was in the first half when we were up 14-0 and he ran a fake punt from our own 45 yd line. It failed and they scored two plays later. Changed the whole momentum of the game. He should have punted and made them try to go 80 yds.

Yeah once again on the broadcast, they were in the media both at Papa John's without any of the video feeds that the college announcers get to see. So they had to go off the scoreboard and looking through binoculars. At BE they maybe 100 feet from the field. Listen next week when we are at home against DeSales and see if it's any better. I listen to the radio broadcast while I watch the game at home.

It's 89 yards now!! It went from 80 to 82 to 89.

I'm thinking it might be 101 soon.

Coaching: The two fake punts and the option were 0-for-3, but what can you do? Probably if one of them work, you're 1-0. But they all seemed a little strange.

I know this was weeks ago, but I wanted to say thet pretty well the same reason I'm a Sox fan and also your list of favorites made me want to rank a list of my Top 10, in order.

If anyone else wants to do the same, please do. I think it would be interesting. Basically, my ranking criteria is "how much satisfaction would I get from seeing them win a championship?" This list can be anything, team sports, boxers, tennis players, bowlers, netball, anything.

Here ya go
1. Boston Red Sox
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
3. Manny Pacquiao
4. Vladimir Klitschko
5. Kimi Raikkonen/5b-Felipe Massa
6. Kelly Pavlik
7. UConn women's basketball
8. LA Lakers
9. Univ. of Miami football
10. Bullitt East football (winless since I became a huge fan)

We have a tough game this week but probably not as tough as yesterday. We play a solid 3A team. Here is one thing about this year. We are in a 4 team district. How we finish in the district will determine where we are seeded in the first two rounds of the playoffs since we play against the district teams in the first two rounds.

Since every team makes the playoffs (last year nine team district top 4 made the playoffs) it freed us up to schedule some tougher games. Several voters listed Bullitt East as having the toughest schedule of any 4A team. So playing these tough games will help us in the long run. We can go 3-7 (we won't) and as long as those 3 wins are in our district we will be at home for the first two games of the playoffs.

Here is what I thought going into the season (we were ranked #8 in 4A)

Woodford County (#8 5A) swing
DeSales (just outside top 10 3A) WIN
Bullitt Central (worst 6A team) WIN
@Central (old district foe #1 3A team) LOSS
@ Marion County (district team) WIN
Fairdale (old district foe) WIN
@ North Bullitt (district team main rival ranked 4 in 4A) swing
Larue County (district team) WIN
@ Dupont Manual (#4 6A team, beat Central Friday night) LOSS
Nelson County (another rival) WIN

So that was 6-2 with two swing games. We are 0-1 in swing games now.

yeah I know ... I laughed at that too. Now we are back to an 81 yard pass. I thought the ball was at the 18 but the 19 is fine also. 89 was a stretch. MLB on their team had 24 tackles.

Hopefully #10 can be replaced by Morehead St, Centre College, Georgetown College or Campbellsville this time next year

Here is the local preview for tomorrow nights game

http://www.pioneernews.net/articles/...s/sports01.txt

Also some pics of the boy .. first two from the Notre Dame 7 on 7, other one from Saturday's game. He is 5'10 180lbs .. computer timed at velocity training over the summer at 4.55.

For those of you who are used to seeing 4.3 and 4.4 times thrown out like sand. One pro scout once said "there maybe 10 players in the entire NFL who run a 4.3 40, yet it's amazing that there are 10 on every college team and 17,000 in each state playing high school ball." So 4.55 on a computer timed run is fast.

Knights off and running

We opened up last night against west side rival Maryvale. Though we have some things to tweak, the Kids played hard and physical, and we came away with a decisive 39-7 win! Good start for my Froshies! I mentioned earlier that we had a lot of good backs this year and we ran for 325 yards on the night, spread out among 8 backs. In fact it was spread out so much that our leading rusher had 91 yards and no back had more than 6 carries. We averaged just over 11 yards per carry, which makes me quite happy.

Hell, we even went 4-7 passing for 51 yards and a TD.....I actually called 10 pass plays (QB scrambled on 3) during the game which is really airing out for me! Who knows what I was thinking there

Here is a pretty cool picture of the game in the 2nd quarter as the sun is just starting to set....We are in the White jerseys.

You coach the freshman team right Lee? Good start to the season. How is your varsity team?

We play tonight at 7:30 here at home.

Yes I do, I actually enjoy the Freshman more than varsity, even though they are knuckle heads sometimes

We are expecting a good year from the Varsity. We are ranked #3 in 5A II in the Arizona Republic Pre-Season poll.

Class 5A Division II
No. 1 Peoria Centennial
No. 2 Tucson Sunnyside
No. 3 Avondale Westview
No. 4 Tempe Marcos de Niza
No. 5 Phoenix Barry Goldwater

Tonights game against Maryvale should not be close. They have an extremely dangerous QB (He is REAL fast) and a D1 talent on the D-line, but not much else. Though they should be improved from last Year, when we beat them 66 - 13.

Good luck to Bullitt East tonight!!
