Congrats Mike to you and Nate, Centre is a very strong academicly school there degrees are as good as any school around and better than most.My niece was recrued for softball there. She ended up going to Transylvania. Her dad realy wanted her to go to Centre but her best friend went to Transy so that ended up being the reason for not going to Centre.I know how proud you are my baby girl got a 4yr scholarship in Soccer at Brescia where she was a 4yr starter. She got her degree last spring.I missed only 4 games in 4 yrs.Best of luck to Nate this year in high school maybe he can help get a AAA STATE CHAMPINGSHIP plus have a blockbuster year also. Best wishes to you and your family and may you all enjoy the up coming Football season.Bill

We just got back from the Notre Dame 7 on 7 tourney. It was an absolute blast and an A1 operation. We did surprisingly well. On Friday we went 4-1. Our only loss was on a last second play. We were seeded 8th (out of 44 teams) for the tourney. Unfortunately we lost the first game this morning in the single elimination tourney. The team that beat us had played once already this morning and we looked like we had just woken up. Still we got a pass interferance call in the end zone with no time left and had one last shot to win it but failed. |

We just finished our last 7 on 7 of the Summer as well tonight. Finished 5-1-1, good for third overall out of 25 Teams, and even better our Linemen won the big Man competiton last night against the strongest field this event has had in the five years it has been held (They won it last year as well)
Highlights were a Friday victory over 5A1 power Salpointe (A division higher than us) to win our group in pool play, and a win in the quarterfinals tonight against 5A2 runner-up Sunnyside, who knocked us out of the State Playoffs last Season in the Quarter Finals. Our lone loss came tonight in the Semis against defending 5A1 Champ Hamilton. They are loaded at every spot and were really fired up tonight since we handed them their only passing League loss of the Summer in an earlier tournament. Can't wait for August!!! |

Didn't want to start a new thread and didn't want to post up in the mess that is OT .... this is sort of on this topic though.
Anyone down here in the basement good with editing a WMA track? The kids are looking for a new song to come out of the tunnel to this year. The last 2 years they have used "Pulse of the Maggots" by Slipknot. This year they want to use "New Noise" by Refused (because it was used in the Friday Night Lights movie) but the intro is too long. PM me if anyone thinks they can do it or what's a good freeware editing tool? |

Mike, had no idea you were a Sox guy. Good to hear.
Starman: Big spot against the Yankees? When is that going to happen? 2011?

Back on the topic a bit of this thread ... Nate has a recruiting visit set up for Centre College and Morehead St. this year so far. We heard from Butler also who is in the same Div 1AA conference as Morehead.
They have been back in practice for 3 weeks now Helmets and Shoulder Pads. They go away to camp (with 5 other schools) this weekend. Monday they go full pads. The kid who was the starting QB suffered a slight tear in his LCL two days ago. Nate isn't terribley upset because the backup doesn't really like to run so he hands off or pitches more. Plus he is the better passer of the two. In the Veer that Bullitt East runs, the QB decides whether to hand off or pull it back and keep it. |

Mike is Bullitt East going to have to go thur the drug testing deal i know Bullitt Central is. I just don't see this helping these high school kids that much in some cases maybe even hurt i know the Coach at Central dosn't seem to like it much.

How can it not help the kids? If you want to play sports don't do drugs, pretty simple. Besides kids should get used to it, the rest of their lives will involve drug testing. The penalty for one failed test is nothing more than a wake up call (20% of the season) so it's not like a death penalty for one bad test. Coach seems to not mind the testing. |

Well, we finished our week of pre-conditioning for incoming Freshman at Westview tonight. I must say this could be the best group overall since we came to this School 5 years ago. We have 5 kids that ran under 5.0 in the forty, with two that ran mid 4.7's, which is damn good for Freshman. Plus right behind them are a bunch in the 5.0 - 5.1 range, including some bigger Kids. We had 30-40 of them in our summer weights program and a bunch at our speed camp and it seems to have paid off.
Skill kids o'plenty, have some questions on the line that can't really be answered till the pads go on, still, it looks promising. |

Our kids are away at camp with 5 other schools where they practice twice a day and then scrimmage at night. They'll be back on Sunday, then it's full pads on Monday.
3 weeks until opening game at Papa John's Cardinal stadium. 4.7 is great for freshman since they really haven't even learned how to run yet. Nate was around 4.9 as a freshman and is under 4.6 now. Stop watch he has ran 4.45, computer his best is 4.56. |

As a D-3 program, they most certainly do not. Perhpas they can put together a "need" package from various grants and endowments, and maybe such things happen a little more frequently for athletes (even though they are not supposed to) but they don't give athletic scholarships.
