Question Joel Julio @ 147?

I have him rated as a 6 & @ pre-prime - is that the most up to date rating the rest of you have?

Thanks!

That is the rating I have. I used to think that was a low rating for him,but after the way Quintana dismantled him, that is probably about right. He is still young, and if he learns from this fight, can still be a major force for years to come. A loss to Quintana is no disgrace,as many will see in the future.

Julio losing to Quintana is nothing to be ashamed about. Hopefully he will learn from this fight and improve. He has to be a little bit more busy and not try to load up on his puches trying for a knockout all the time. If he just boxed and used his skills against Quintana he might have pulled out a decision.

I actually think if the knockdown hadn't happened in the first it would have been an entirely different fight. It looked like Julio thought he did it once he could do it again. I think both fighters will be very good, but I'd still take Julio in the rematch.

I agree. Julio kept trying to go for the bomb after that and he just kept getting outslicked and outboxed by Quintana. In a rematch Julio will be more prepared and probably will pull out a decision but that will not happen for a while.

I just hope he doesnt get discouraged by his first loss and go downhill from there,as many fighters seem to do. He hung in there against a very frustrating opponent. He can use this fight as a very good learning tool. I hope he continues to improve,he has all the tools to be a great one. Quintana is ready to rumble with the p4p guys now. He is a tough matchup for anyone. I agree with you MH...the knockdown seem to give him the false hope of an early knockout,by the time he figured out that wasnt going to happen, it was too late. Very interesting matchup between two very good young fighters. Too bad the Brock/Ibragimov fight was a snoozer, could have been a very big night for HBO.
