Jackie Callura rating ??

An observation .
I don't know if this has been caught of not.
Jackie Calura is rated a 1 at FW.
His absorb punishment is 33.
I think that's an error.
If you change it to 3 Callura becomes a 5.
Much more likely.

Bear, that does seem much more accurate. Callura while not
an all-time great by any means was considered a national
hero particularly in his home town of Hamilton, Ontario.

He wasn't inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame simply for his local appeal in Hamilton. Fame is much wider. See:

Since you are, yourself, Canadian I'm probably preaching to the choir.

Thanks for catching the error

You are absolutely correct - absorb punishment/tko rating is a 3 not a 33. That number can never (well, should never) go higher than a 4!

I don't think these are errors on your part Jim. I think when the data base is compiled (or whatever the technical stuff that goes on is called) some of the ratings get screwed up. I have found at least a dozen fighters that have one rating that contains a number which is beyond the allowable range such as a defense rating of -15 or a TKO rating of -1. I am sorry that I have not noted and reported them as I found them but will do so moving forward.

One that comes to mind is a Swiss Flyweight (can't recall his name) - I seem to recall a weird rating that had to be fixed which transformed him from an overall 1 to a 5.

Anyway, I think these items are technical rather than rating errors. Now, power ratings on some of the old-timers - well that's another discussion.

No Bear, you are not preaching, I should have chosen my words
better.Hamilton is less than an hour from Toronto, and I have
heard and read a great deal about Callura over the years.

I worked with Jackie's stepson some years back. Jackie was in poor shape in hospital then, and I've heard he passed away, though I wouldn't bet on it. He was a tough little SOB. Even though he was from Hamilton.

There's also the old Argo Ti-Cat rivalry. As a kid in Chicago I took a fancy to the Argos when I first heard about the CFL. Dick Shatto was my favorite CFLer. Was sad to learn of his death a few years ago. This gets us back Bernie Faloney was the Ti-Cats qb. Can you recomend a good encyclopedia of Candian football?

Bear, I work at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and
if I can find anything in regards to Canadian Football
History other than the annual yearbook I will be sure to let
you know.

Fritz Chervet, absorb punishment rating is 23. Should this be a 2 or a 3?
Jim Trunzo's comment was that no absorb punishment should be above 4.

Thats the one! Good sleuthing Bear.

When you create a rating, it will not allow a rating higher than 4, if you fix it then try to make it 23 again you will be unable to do so. That is why I mentioned that these can't possibly be rating errors. I would assume Jim made it a 2 or 3 and it was flummoxed in the compilation process.

I would guess that it should be a three with him but I'll have a look when I open the game later on.

I wouldn't have caught it without the comment that he hadn't gotten past round 2 on his feet for Tomato City.

Flyweight Dennis Adams of South Africa.
His recovery rating is 21. If you change it to a 2, his overall rating jumps from a 3 to a 6.
