Valuev VS McCline Jan 20

WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev (46-0, 33 KOs) will face Jameel McCline (38-9, 23 KOs) on January 20 at the St. Jakob-Halle in Basel, Switzerland. The bout will be the seven-foot Russian champion's last voluntary defense before his mandatory against Ruslan Chagaev. This will also be the first heavyweight title fight ever held in Switzerland.

Should be a decent fight. Two huge guys with somewhat limited power for their size. I'll take Valuev by TKO 7.

Yeah, interesting choice of opponents. You hit the nail on the head Mr.Big,two big guys somewhat lacking in power for their size. I have to think about this one. I think McCline may have a chance here. However, both have glaring weaknesses so...hard to tell. Any early predictions guys?

Should be a good one .. at least someone bigger than who he has been fighting. I can't see McCline getting any breaks on the decision so he needs to chop down the giant.

The only problem is that Jameel doesn't have a big enough ax!

If memory serves me right, larry donald not only outboxed him on the inside, he hurt him a couple times, and I know Mcline hit harder, but I don't think it was Donald power, more so the speed the punches was coming. So again, good fight, even more interesting if goes past 8 rounds, lets see how mcline stamina holds up and how Valuev handle a big heavyweight in the late rounds.

Valuev has improved since the Larry Donald fight. I believe that bout was a wake up call for him. His contest with McCline will set all-time records for a heavyweight title bout in both combined height (13'6") and weight (approx. 600 lbs.) of the combatants. Big Jameel will look like a baby in there against Nikolay, though. He is already talking about not being able to find sparring partners to mimic the champions' size. Shoud be an interesting fight.

could be interesting. the first right hand monte hit valuev with in the first round of their match buckled valuev's knees not sure if he was caught off guard or what but i was surorised by that. Tend to agree mcCline can;t win a decision and will have to stop valuev

I'll take the upset in this one...McCline puts him down for the count in 7. Valuev will have problems with a decent fighter who can reach him with little trouble.

I love heavyweights, because when you are the heavyweight champion, you are the REAL champion of the world. Anyone can say what they will about the big boys, but they would crush the champions in the smaller divisions.

McCline, despite his dimensions, couldn't punch a hole in a wet paper bag. While able to more readily reach Nikolays' chin, I honestly don't think that he hits much harder than Monte Barrett. Valuev UD.

We might see a repeat of the Briggs-Liahovich(sic) fight. McLine can punch a bit when he wants to. He just seems poorly motivated in there. No real fire in his belly. Now, if Valuev could hit as ugly as he looks, McLine would be out of there in round 1.
