With the announcement of OOTP 2007.........
Being released on 3-23-07,i wonder if TBCB will finally get some attention? I know the TBCB community really deserve to be addressed,anyway,it would be nice to get some sort of update on what the immediate future of this great boxing game will be. Hopefully,the OOTP developmental team will start work on TBCB 3.

Don't count on hearing any news about the new version of TBCB until the second half of this year. After OOTP is released (3/23/07) there will probably be patches that will have to be worked on, also. At this rate we probably will not have a new version of our beloved game until '08 or '09 at the earliest. It sucks that our fanbase comes second wheel but what can you do. I'm remaining optimistic but if another version of the game doesn't come out, i'm pretty darn satisfied with what Andreas and Co. were able to give us.

I am a fan of both OOTP and TBCB, and while I would love to see some more work on TBCB I don't see it happening until and unless they get a stable and likeable version of OOTP out. As you all know they are a business and out to make some $$$, and TBCB doesn't exactly do that. With the death of the last version of OOTP they definitely need this version to get back on track. This is just my opinion, but I think we all need to root for OOTP2007 to be a success.

OOTP2006 was a big change from the previous versions of OOTP, a major interface change and a boatload of additions, and of course a lot of bugs as it was a complete re-write. With a year behind it now and a lot of feedback from the community it looks like they may have made some big strides towards improving it. I play OOTP for the multi player online leagues, and at a guess 95% of them still use OOTP 6.5 rather the OOTP2006 (All 7 I am in are still 6.5). I have hopes that this next version will change this. With a strong release and a couple of patches(crossing fingers), we could see some activity on TBCB by june. Again, just my opinion. :}

For all of your sake, I hope that TBCB does not suffer the same fate as ITP.

As far as a replay text sim game it is as complete as it can get. The next step is to take it to the RPG level, so if that never happens we have a complete game. I'm not worried though there will be another version of this game. |

Agreed Clay. Andreas and the hardcore users of TBCB made it great despite it not having all the fanfare of the baseball game. When I had TB1, I was just happy to have all the stock fighters (the recognizable ones) in the game. When I discovered that the TBCB community had made quite a few thousand addtional unrated and filler fighters, it made the game more complete for me. I have no doubts that there will be a new version of this game but it will take some time and patience from everyone.

How would old veterans of the CM/FM franchise feel if their company was acquired by a third party that then junked the interface they are accustomed to? That said, I still wanted to like OOTP2006. I played the demo but it did not appeal to me. Then, recently, I downloaded it again and tried to find something likeable about it, in spite of my utter disappointment about the interface change. Unfortunately, the demo is time-limited. If you don't get enough play time within a few days to decide if you like it, tough. It expires. So I could not even play it again to see if I could convince myself to like it. Oh well. To be honest I don't play TBCB much these days. When a major bout catches my interest, I'll play it. When something good on ESPN Classic catches my attention, I'll play it. I wish some of those 'modules' would see the light of day. Whatever. It's still a great game, the best non-arcade boxing game we are likely to get. |

Jim made the game and has always done it as a labour of love and not for money. But in a way that's out of Jim's hands now i feel. Once you join any company unless you yourself invest a lot of capital in the firm, your control over decisions and the like is to say the least very limited. He who pays the piper calls the tune. The main object of any business is to survive and lets all be honest, if our money was invested in a boxing simulation, a football simulation and baseball simulation or any such games and we needed to cut back. *Think money now because its now your money* Which would be the first to go if cuts had to be made. Not saying this is going to happen but like it or not there are times when you have to be ruthless and a mercenary to survive.
Behind the scenes in OOTP's minds now must be the thought of the new Windows Vista and not if, but when is the right time to make there games if possible compatible with the new version of Windows. If they cant do this then they must in the future write there games for the new windows only. As of course most new computers will be sold with the new windows system on them and although it will take a little time that like it or not is your future market. So we can hope and be optimistic as hell but its pretty obvious that OOTP has right now on there plate some big decisions to make as to where and on what products to best invest in. Another point to think on for all us who bought the present game, will Windows Vista run that version of Title Bout. Be interesting if any of you know someone who has now got the new windows. Or if it does not run on Vista in its present state, the game in our hands now will in two years time just be gathering dust on a shelf. As of course some great games will be coming out as game companys write there games only for the newer version of windows, and then having the new windows will become almost a must for everyone. The bottom line being of course in any business its where best to allocate any labour and resources to get the best returns for the money invested. Anyone on here want to sell there house and put the money into the boxing game that's in a way what were hoping OOTP will do. Makes you think when its put that way dont it ? Thats not being negative from me its called being realistic, which is a must if you run any business. |

Sad but true, Danny. I hadn't thought about the Windows Vista aspect at all. I have an older PC with MS XP. Do I invest a couple of hundred in upgrading to Vista just so I can play the next version of TBCB? Or do I put my money towards my kids' education? Hmm. Not a tough choice. The game will have to wait until I have the money to spare.

We bought a new computer only a year ago. I'm not planning on upgrading to Vista. "Other priorities." This computer and its Win XP will stay in service for years to come.
I don't feel that I'll be missing anything by not upgrading. There are not many games out there I want to buy. It seems as if every new game is either a shooter (getting the kiddies ready for the next war) or an RTS. I already have Quake and I already have C+C Tiberian Sun. Not sure if they run on this machine, but if they don't, well, too bad. |
