What Happened To Ike Ibeabuchi?

Just saw the Ibeabuchi / Tua fight on ESPN Classic Fights. Ike won easily and went on to best Chris Byrd and others. Ike finished his career 20-0 in 1999. I have not been following boxing long. What happened to Ike. Was it a tragic end to his career or something?

He went to jail for kidnapping and assault. I had thought that he was due for release soon or had been released recently though. Perhaps someone else is up to speed.

He was denied parole in 2004 and his next hearing won't be until August of this year. Also, if I'm not mistaken he was arrested for raping a exotic dancer right?

I hate That. He appeared to have a very promising career. He had great hand speed and snapping jab for a big guy. "Coulda been somebody..."

sucks...

i watched the ike ibeabuchi - david Tua fight on youtube...
It looks like there's all sorts of politics which goes hand in hand with Boxing... Tua's in court procedings with his manager... looks like his winnings might have been mismanaged by manager barry.
and now i find out Ike is in jail for 5-30 years (wikipedia)

what a bum buzz!

That he is - The guy is a nut job - Believes he is not fully human or some notion like that - Believes he can see the future.......Has some real issues.

I doubt he would have ever handled the pressure of a big true title fight all that well...... He definitely had skills and good power......but there is more needed than that (most often) to become a champion....

Last I heard he had balloned to over 300 + pounds.....
