Kessler

What an impressive performance by both guys last night. Kessler is stunningly good. Accurate, great defense, great combinations.

Andrade can freaking take a punch.

Wish they would hire Bob Papa full time for BAD.

Kellerman was on fire last night, he is getting better and better. Had some great one liners too. Funny his first question to Andrade is "Are you human"

If I'm Calzaghe I retire before taking on Kessler. Kessler will be a star here in the states as well.

Most unintentional funny comment of the night was when they said Wayne McCoullogh should think about stopping it.

You are right about Kessler. On this side of the ocean we've known this for quite some time.

Really the first full fight I've seen from him. I liked it when Kellerman said he is hittable but he doesn't get hit with anything stupid but Andrade only landed 10% of his punches.

At only 28, I think Calzaghe would have his hands full .. of course I've been way wrong about Joe before also. I'd like to see that fight somewhere neutral too.

Kessler can be a star over here in the states for sure .. hell I think my wife is in love with him.

Yes Kessler was impressive - didn't realize he speaks English too, he might have potential coming to the US.

Andrade didn't fare that well when he tried to take the WBC SMW title from Hearns in my universe. Tommy blew him out of the ring via a 2nd round TKO.

Well with 1 being the best rating for absorb punishment in the game I think Andrade's should be -4. Guy didn't have a mark on him.

Speaking of ratings I think Kessler is more of a 9 than a 7 from what I saw.

Most danes speak english quite good! In Sweden you learn english from the age 9-10 in school. I think it is the same in Denmark.

Kessler is definitely one of the top SMW out there. They have groomed him well...and he has fought quality opposition over the last several years....

He'd give Joe C hell as of now.......Though I'd still give Joe C the slight edge...

Yeah, I agree - he's definitely closer to a 9 than a 7.

I don't doubt it, my mother's German & they learned English in school as well. Compare that to some US schools where the kids coming out don't even speak one language (English) all that well.

Kessler

I too was impressed with Kessler. However, I don't think we can tell much at all about how he will fare against Calzaghe based on his performance against Andrade. I am sure that we all can agree that it would be an understatement to even say that there is merely a world of difference in handspeed between Andrade and Calzaghe. We have all seen guys who can look fantastic against guys when they carry clear physical advantages, but it is another thing entirely when they face a world class fighter who will hit them back effectively. I am not saying that Kessler will go to pieces if he fights Calzaghe, I wish I knew enough about boxing to see that coming! I could actually WIN money betting on sports for a change.

I just wanted to offer my take that I have very little idea of how he may perform when he takes such a major step up in talent of opposition. The guy has a good jab, throws good combinations, and moves his feet well, it would be insane to suggest that he can't possibly be the best out there at 168, but he'll have to walk through some serious fire to get there, the kind of fire that we did not see on Saturday. As an aside, how can you not pull for Andrade, what a great story and what a gracious guy. And boy did he earn his money.

I do have a question, How will Calzaghe and Kessler ever fight? They both make a ton of money fighting at home. Neither should have to go to the other's country, nor would they. And, I don't think they are nearly popular enough in the public to pull off a big money fight in the US. I hate being cynical, but this feels like one that may take awhile to come off. Man, would I LOVE to be wrong about that.

I enjoyed the broadcast, but IMO, it wasn't Papa or Kellerman, it was the absence of Lennox Lewis, he isn't just brutal, he is beyond brutal.

Agreed + get rid of Lennox and use Manny for every fight that he isn't training one of the fighters. I can do without Max Kellerman but he's tolerable. I don't remember the regular BAD announcer's name but I can't stand him. I actually hated the whole new BAD team of announcers until Saturday when we got the revised/improved team.

Fran Charles .. personally I love Max Kellerman because 1) he's funny 2) he's a big fan of boxing and 3) he seems like some guy that would easily sit down and have a beer with you

I don't mind Lennox all that much he seems to be getting better. But I did not like Fran Charles at all.

Kessler looked fantastic. I think Kessler v Calzaghe should be a good fight. I would pay to see it for sure.

I would actually give Kessler a decent shot at defeating Calzaghe at this stage of their careers. Would have "superfight" written all over it. Hope it happens.
