amateur fighting

How many amateur fights does the "average" fighter have? I know this may be a difficult question to answer, but any info will help as I have no clue at all.

Are all amateur fights 3 rounds? How are they scored?

I think Andreas will be adding a new amateur stage for the Open area.

I've been pushing for it to show their stage on the fight history. Show their fights at beginner, pre and so on. How I'd like the amateur stage to work is that the history stays, but all the stats reset once he goes to beginner and there will be a column or row on the stat page showing their amateur record.

There wouldn't need to be any different ratings adjusting than what happens at the beginner stage because they would only be fighting other amateurs.

It would have to be basic because of the way the engine is set up. It would be difficult to change how the scoring works.

I haven't any idea what would be considered average but it is not at all un-common to see well over 100 bouts for the better amateurs in a relatively short number of years.

To add to what Chris said, the Club vs Club Duel meets account for about 1/2 to 3/4 of your amateur Fights, depending on where you are, how many Tournaments are available etc. In addition to open Tournaments (such as the State GG) we would also have Club invitationals when I was fighting, that usually consisted of Four clubs, with their top two Guys fighting from each Division............Granted this was from 1977 to 1980, but I can't imagine it's changed a whole bunch.

When I was in amateurs way back when it was all tournies but it could have been club invitationals .. I just don't remember, what I do remember is I never went somewhere and had just 1 match. It was always 3-5 over a weekend or span of a couple of days.

Claybor, amatuer fights used to be three, three minute rounds but have now been changed to four, two minute rounds, at least thy have over here. I'm not sure if that is universal though. I hope this helps.

Most of my amateur fights were on club shows with a few tournaments. I had about 60 fights, winning approximately 45. Sadly for me the last fight I had was a first round KO loss to Michael Brodie.

Thanks for the info all.

This is not 100% set yet, but what I plan on trying to do is set it up so the beginning to pre-prime stage was set to maybe 50-100 using this as the "amateur" stage. I would then wipe the records from the official area and record the amateur record in the fighters notes.

It widely varies. Some fighters turn pro with almost no amateur experience while others turn pro after 100s of amateur fights.

Bernard Hopkins turned pro late because of prison and I think he fought most of his amatuer fights in prison.

tyson had only about 30 amatuer fights I think they turned him pro early because he has more of a pro style

Joel Cassamayor boxed for cuba and turned pro late after about 300 amatuer fights.

Roy jones won 2 national golden gloves and an olympic medal and had about 120 fights.

So it widely varies.
