Margarito
You know usually I'm in the corner of Mexican fighters but OMG do I hate this guy.
I sure hope Williams beats him so we can stop hearing how he is the most avoided fighter in the universe. If he gets by Williams then I hope my boy Cotto just ruins him. Now someone just compared Soto to Margarito .... seriously??? Soto has all sorts of talent while Margarito is exteremly one dimensional. Clottey beat the tar our of Margarito until he broke his hand/hands. I can think of 7-8 WW's off hand that I would favor in a fight with Margarito. Okay .. I know I'm a hater .. but sheesh I hate this guy. |

If he gets past Williams (a big IF) him vs. Cotto would be huge! I'd favor Cotto but that would be a good/great fight because I think Margarito will have to be pretty good to beat Williams - unless he's just hype & folds the 1st time he gets hit hard to the chin or body.

LOL, I doubt that would happen.
Cotto reminded me of a tank on Sat. night - almost like on a search & destroy mission. I can see why you like him, he seems like a really nice, humble guy too. Cotto vs. Floyd would make for quite a contrast in both boxing styles & personalities. |

Humberto Soto is a guy that can adapt to his opponents style plus the fact he has decent defense and has good power in both hands, most of the top JLW would be in for a long night. Saturday night showed why guys like Pacquiao, Barerra, and Valero are not to keen on getting in the ring with him anytime soon. He's not a world class, A+ fighter but he gets the most out of what skills he does have and can present problems for the top level guys if given the chance.
Margarito is a one-dimensional brawler that benefits from his opponent trying to trade with him. Anyone who has decent boxing skills will give him fits. Clottey proved it for four rounds before he got injured and he has above average boxing skills with sound defense. Cotto would eat Margarito alive. The reason why he calls himself "a ducked fighter" is because he knows he'll get ruined by the top WW's in the division. Margarito is a B level fighter at best. |

I'm getting a kick out of all the Margarito nutt huggers on maxboxing crying about Cotto moving ahead of Antonio in the Ring Magazine ratings.
I can understand it a little since they have faced similar competition and Margarito has been around longer but 2 things IMO put Cotto ahead. 1) that 0 in the loss column and 2) Margarito has to have a great opponent to draw more than 3000 people to a fight. Cotto could fight Haley Joe Osment and draw 16,000. Funny how Margarito was also talking some crap about Cotto's win over Judah ... maybe he ought to think about Paul Williams a little more. Or maybe he is just building up his excuse the old "I was looking past him" excuse that fighters have used for decades. |
