Tito to return?

Trinidad to return in January?
The Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia is reporting that former world champion Felix Trinidad might return in January 2008. Trinidad, who will turn 35 years of age on January 10, met with promoter Don King, accompanied by vice-president Dana Jamison and Puerto Rican representative Juan Miguel González on Friday in Puerto Rico. Possible opponents DKP is looking at are Floyd Mayweather, Roy Jones Jr. and Jermain Taylor. Further talks are scheduled.

I wonder if he'll be able to get down to Jr. Middleweight. If he does, Floyd Mayweather has the style to have him swinging at air for most of the night. If he catches him, though... but that may be a big if for this version of Trinidad.

I don't know if he will be able to make the weight. He looked pretty heavy when he was at Oscar's camp in the 24/7 feature.

When they discussed fighting Oscar, he said he can't go below 160 any more.

He gets destroyed by pretty much anyone in the SMW division. I'm surprised Calzaghe isn't prime for this fight.

I agree with this. Tito would get beat probably handily by everyone of those fighters listed.

It's got to be for money. No way can he expect to take RJJ, even if Roy is on his way down. He's still way to much for Tito, as would any top fighter be at this point. Hopkins and Winky pretty much set the blueprint for beating him, and made it all to easy at that. I'd pick Jones by an easy and early KO.

Now there's a understatement. It's always about the money anymore.

Tito is going to fool around and get himself hurt. All he can do at this point is tarnish his legend. Sad, really.
