Is This Related To The Old Board Game??

Years ago I spent way, way, way, too much of my weekends and evenings sitting at desk with a board game, and I'm old now and my memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I could have sworn it was called Title Bout. If I'm not mistaken it was put out by Avalon Hill Game Company. You had fighter cards, and Action Cards which controlled the rounds, with little pawns used to follow points scored etc. etc. Is this game in any way similar to that old board game???

Yes it is. The rights were owned by Jim and Tom Trunzo and they made 4 or so computer versions of the game. The last two have been under the OOTP banner. TBCB2 and I'm pretty sure TBCB were both programmed by Andreas Raht who recently purchased the rights to the game.

We have a great community here most of us are old timers who grew up with the board game also. TBCB3 should be out by the EOY and will be the first version to include a true dynasty mode where you are a manager and you have to hire, train and promote fighters.

The current version has some aspects like an aging module but for the most part is a replay game like the board game was. Check out Inside the Ropes to read how a lot of play the game. It is a great community and I would highly recommend buying TBCB2 and learn the ropes while TBCB3 is in development.

Welcome to the board and feel free to PM me or Conn Chris with any questions or post them here and the community will answer.

Wow, that was a GREAT game. I did tournaments and kept records and rankings and everything. Really got into it. I may have to check this out. Thanks for the reply.

Here's Another Link for You ...

Old Fat Guy, here's another link to the Title Bout page at BoardGameGeek, which is the premier web site for information about Board games as opposed to computer games.

mh is right, most of the recent developments (say last 15 years or so) have been on developing computer iterations of this excellent game which make the play much quicker, and each new iteration of the computer version has added more and more features. The latest announcement has been of a role playing version by OOTP which would be the third version they have done since acquiring the rights.

I started out with the board version of Title Bout in the 1970's. I'm currently playing Title Bout Championship Boxing 2. For $30 you get an excellent simulation with thousands of fighters. It's a great deal.
