Klitschko-Brewster 2
Well guys, we are less than a week away from Saturday's highly anticipated (at least by avid Klitschko fans) rematch between IBF/IBO world heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, and former WBO titlist Lamon Brewster.
I believe that Wlad, while wanting to make a statement, will choose to err on the side of caution, wearing Lamon down and stopping him inside of 9. I see a systematic beating coming Brewster's way, assuming Klitschko can keep his wits about him, and is able to keep Don King away from his water bottles. ![]() How do you guys see this one playing out?

On paper & recent performances Wald should win.....
But that Brewster right hand or left hook just may change all that......I haven't heard much about Brewster training camp....You? We all know Wald will come in, in the best shape he can and that Manny will make sure his camp is seriously run and such.... As for Brewster that is up in the air. What's his weight at? Who's he been sparring with? etc, etc. It will definitely be interesting to see if Brewster lands a big shot how Wald responds.....Since having been TKO'd by this guy. Does he rise up to such a challenge or does he fold?......Or does Brewster even land such a shot to begin with?? |

No one has really heard about how Brewster's traning camp has gone. It's not a good sign when the press hasn't taken a look at you while preparing for a make or break fight. Meanwhile, Wlad has had several interviews during his camp and he looks in fantastic shape. This should last no longer than six rounds. Hopefully Lamon does not end up seriously hurt and if he does get into such trouble his corner should just throw in the towel. I'm not really sold on him being healed from the injuries he suffered in the Liakhovich fight.
Prediction: Wlad TKO5. |

I sincerely hope this fight goes well for Wlad. It will give him some vindication of sorts, considering the way things unravelled in their first encounter more than 3 years ago. I was shocked at the turn of events in the 5th stanza, considering Klitschko's complete domination of Brewster in the previous rounds.
Since that time, Wladimr has gone 6-0, with 4 KOs, against competition with an aggregate record of 154-7-6 (.940). He has also picked up the NABF, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles. Brewster has amassed a 3-1 mark with 2 knockouts against competition with a combined record of 117-8-2 (.929), in route to losing his WBO strap. Lamon hasn't fought in more than a year, (which he insists means nothing, since the same was true the first time he fought Wlad), and I truly believe that the previous eye injury could be an area of concern for the Brewster camp. I just don't think that Lamon is the same fighter he was in '04 when he weathered the Klitschko storm to score the upset. Even then, it was more a case of Wlad self destructing, because, like I've said before, Lamon didn't hit him with anything of substance all night. Another oddity about that fight is the fact that referee Robert Byrd stopped the contest AFTER the bell, denying Wlad any chance of recovering during the one minute rest period between rounds. If you ask me, there was definitely something awry in that first meeting. The fact that the rematch is being held in Germany should eliminate a recurrance of any monkey business; at least for Klitschko, who will hopefully get said monkey off of his back with a win, and further secure his position as the planets' best heavyweight.

I think Wlad could take out Brewster within 4 rounds. But the memory of getting stopped the first time is a very real hurdle for some fighters to get over. So, I see Wlad playing it on the safer side and picking his shots. I think it'll be a late round stoppage, too... with Klitschko busting up Lamon along the way. I'll go with round 8 in what should be a fairly one-sided fight unless Klitschko freezes and gets caught.
Even so, if that should happen... I still think he'll get up and win with a late stoppage. This fight is being televised over the Net for around $6 or $7. |

Klitschko should emerge victorious assuming that he paces himself properly this
time, and he should win by a mid-round tko. Greg

I'll pull for Brewster but I think he is damaged goods. I'll take Wlad via KO4, mainly due to the fact that he has Manny in his corner.

I think Simms/Alcine is one of the most underrated fights on either card. My prediction is that Alcine will pull out a close decision. Considering that it is in Simms backyard, you just never know how the judges will see it. Either way it should be exciting.

Both guys look in very good shape. The fight might go longer than most people think but Wlad will ultimately win the fight. |

I think as a Wlad fan you have every right to be nervous. Brewster KO'ed a gassed Wlad the last time they met and there's always that picture in the back of your mind that it could happen again. IMO Manny Steward has taught Wlad a lot and he is going to fight a much better strategic fight this time by pacing himself and using his jab to set up a monster right hand late in the fight when Brewster least suspects it. I happen to like both guys so i'm hoping that whoever loses comes out of the fight with everything intact (namely Lamon).

Lamon Brewster is a class act. His promoter might be a bloodsucker but Lamon is one of the true nice guys in boxing. Never talks smack about his opponents or other fighters and is humble in victory or defeat.

Wlad/Brewster (spoiler)
Wlad TKO6 Brewster.
Wlad used his sharp jab and occasional right hand to keep Lamon at bay. It was just an accumilation of punishment and Buddy McGirt pulled the plug. Good call considering that Wlad was getting stronger and would have eventually put Brewster down within the next few rounds anyway. |
