New Screenshots from TBCB2.5

Here is a screenshot of the new filtering system. When starting a new universe ... now you can filter what fighters you want to bring in.

This screenshot shows that it is bringing in all the male HW's and CW's and female Flyweights who debuted between 1990-2000 and are currently active.

When you need to bring in more fighters there is an update button to hit and this screen will pop up again ... you could change the max and min career start dates to 2001 and it will only bring in those fighters who debuted in 2001.

Very nice addition.

Awesome new feature. I've been thinking about doing an 80's universe down the road and that will definitely come in handy.

This is definitely one of the sweetest features of 2.5!

Sorry for being so dim, Mike, but if you've already got a fully functioning AU, what can this filter be used for?

AU (I think actual universe)?? -

Also, do I have this right. If you choose to import those HW and Fly (from above example) it simply imports / makes another version of fighter X ....(and you already have a version of fighter X, in your universe, it will not replace him).

Damn, that was a complicated way of saying that...

This would allow you to import a new 'rookie class' so to speak. If you were to import a year/division combination that contained fighters already in the the DB to begin with I supose that those would over-write the pre-existing files unless you removed the boxrec ID first. I supose that it could work similar to the web download where the rating and bio information would over-write and leave any history in tact but we haven't tried this out yet - it is to be included in the next beta build that Andreas sends us.

I'm not sure Cap but for one it would help with importing new rookies like Chris said X 3.

As I have it right now ... I have groups main, club and beginner and all the other fighters who aren't in my universe are in men. When I transport this over I can dump all the fighters who aren't in my universe and then easily import fighters as I need them.

Dim bulb again. If you've dumped the fighters not in your universe, where do you import fighters from?

I started my AU with groups of fighters in different eras. As my history progressed I would transfer fighters into my active group from each era group. Can I use the filter somehow to do the transfer more easily?

It sounds like you run your alternate universe as a subset within your default database. This is for creating a database separate from the default or main database where the only fighters are those active in your universe (or retired from it). To do what it sounds as though you do, the mass group editing should be all that you need and this will be of little or no value.

The imports will come from the on-line database that will be available with the new version.

What we need.... Is for the online DB (where you can download from). To not simply have the fighers name and some small BIO stuff....and the download link.....BUT also allow you to actually VIEW the fighters ratings....

View their actual ratings PRIOR to deciding if you want to download them.

Ah, well. As long as some benefit by it, it's worth having. I'm looking forward to the expanded groups feature.

I think that's what most of us do Bill. Using the groups to organize your universes rather than creating separate databases limits the usefullness of the group function. Even with the expanded group options in v. 2.5, not setting up separate databases would mean that you wouldn't get much functionality from the ability to have more than two group assignments.

To me this would have great value. I'd also like to be able to print them out from that screen.
