Breakdown of UK into individual countries for fighters

I am getting my database ready for the new 2.5 game and had a question about the separation of the UK countries. As a lot of you know, I only run a HW universe and create a lot of new fighter files to fill certain countries. Now that the UK has been broken up into its smaller countries, how do I determine what flag an individual fighter should fight under? When I go to boxrec, should I use where his hometown is? The boxrec listings are under UK. Would appreciate any information. Since the 2.5 version has N.Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales...I would like to have more fighters from each individual country. England is pretty well established, but the other countries have very few to chose from.

Short of using fictional fighters, you'll have to do a lot of digging and rating to come up with a significant number of heavyweights (many light heavyweights fought for the national heavyweight title) to fill your ranks. There were heavyweights in Scotland and Wales, they just weren't all international calibre. Have you perused the Mods section? Northern Ireland could be a wee bit sticky. I just use Ireland (Eire actually) and have it as part of the Empire/Commonwealth. This may change for me with 2.5.

As for which flag they fight under, you're right about using hometowns. That's what I generally do.

Yes, I have downloaded pretty much every single file (HW/CW/LHW or significant fighters) created by any forum members in the mods section. There are a lot of fighters that have been created by Rocco under the flag of England. I have gone to boxrec and looked over all the United Kingdom listed fighters. I check the hometown of each fighter and assume that is how I would assign country and flag. Thanks for the help. The UK thing always messes me up.

The Union Jack is also still there (just not used in the standard DB), if you prefer that.

Otherwise, going by the birthplace seems the most prudent option to me.
