Versus Card
Anyone watching it tonight? The undercard will be a JWW battle between Jesus Soto-Karass and Juan Buendia and the main event will be Hasim Rahman vs. Zuri Lawrence.
My predictions: Karass UD10 Buendia Rahman TKO4 Lawrence |

That's the type of fight you like to see. There was maybe one or two clinches in the fight and that was towards the end. Karass reminds me of mini version of Margarito with less power. He can be a difficult matchup for anyone at WW and could possibly get a title shot sometime next year. Buendia was game but just didn't have enough power on his punches to keep Karass off of him.

Rahman is a shot fighter. He was very lucky that the ref stopped the fight because he was in all sorts of trouble and had cuts over both eyes. Rahman didn't show me anything that would lead me to believe that he'll be getting another title shot anytime soon.
FWIW, I had Lawrence up by a point going into the tenth. |

Mildly interesting . . . the fight was out there for Lawrence. He did a heck of job to climb back in there after getting knocked out of the ring. I wasn't following any kind of lead-in info, so I'm not sure how much notice he had, but seems it was somewhere between two days and less than a week. He said if he had a month he'd have beaten the (crap) out of him and he's probably right. Rahman is toast. Broadcaster had it right, his career basically consisted of one overhand right.

When Rahman knocked Lawrence "out of the ring", he didn't reall hit him. Zuri fell through loose ropes as he was trying to bob and weave around looping punches. The sad thing is that the "Rock" has been milking his overhand right and his win over Lewis to get title shots by beating journeymen and over the hill HW's for the last five years. Thankfully, that ride is about to come to an end. Last edited by a87star : 11-16-2007 at 12:44 AM. |
