Good fighter.
Some might think that it is the wrong place but as everyone in the basement are educated enough to appreciate a good fighter I thought that I'd share a cool video from youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twS5A_KoU_A The Thai-fighter is Buakaw Por Puramuk. He is without a doubt the best fighter to ever compete in K1 imo. Look how relaxed he is. Look at his timing...see for yourself. The highlight reel is taken from the K1 Max - 2006 final. Gago Drago is a very good fighter but the way he gets punished after every move is just incredible. I hope you forgive me for posting this in a boxing forum ![]()

Okay I don't know much about K1 .. but it sure seems that move where he holds onto the guys foot and jerks him forward while either punching or sweeping the other leg would be illegal.
He is impressive, the one thing I did notice though is he seemed to get hit in the face a lot when the other guy threw punches, but I know in K1 you have to keep your hands lower too. For the record, I like kickboxing .. just don't like MMA. |

What weight class did Buakaw compete in? He is probably is one of the most fundamentally sound fighters in K1. Like meade said, Buakaw would have won a world championship if he just concentrated on boxing.

I really liked his use of the double uppercut. It's a devestating combo.

Buakaw has been fighting since a very early age......has something like close to 200 wins (overall - officially....depending) and only like 18 losses (with most of those coming at younger age...and via very close Dec's....)....."Unofficial" records put him at close to 400 fights....(with over 350+ wins)...
He has fought from FW to MW via K1 (and Muay Thai)......I believe. He KO'd recent former JLW champion Nanthaichai in a boxing match (In Thailand). In boxing (where they tend to cut more weight prior to fights)....Buakaw would have fought between 122-135 (JFW - LW) would have been my guess. Possibly moving up to even WW.... Understand he is still young (only 25 or 26) but has seen a tremendous number of fights....so he is ring worn to a degree.... Last edited by meade95 : 12-10-2007 at 06:49 PM. |

What is even more impressive is that elbows, clinchwork and throws are forbidden in K1 but still he is as dominant as he is. Half of his arsenal is gone but it doesn't seem to bother him.
