Valero - Linares PPV card

At $29.95 I am all over this one. Linares looked impressive in dismantling Larios and I am a fan. Not to mention youtube sensation Edwin Valero.

Diaz will be a good test for Linares .. he did hand both Guerrero and Elio Rojas their first losses.

Valero has a pretty much gimme even though the guy hasn't been KO'd before.

The Linares fight is for the WBC FW title.

I think you should watch it; seems like a pretty solid value.

I just ordered this PPV. Couldn't pass up seeing two great young fighters in Linares and Valero. Teiken has put on some good fight cards this year and this should be no different.

Linares looked solid - Hell of a KO - Though I thought he was outworked some in the middle rounds -

Valero looked.....Well, hard to say.....His opponent seemed awful..... Valero power is as advertised.......but his defense remains poor...... He does give himself good spacing to get his shots off though.....and he will tie a guy up (two positives to somewhat offset his poor defense). He leaves his chin hanging out there...

I was really impressed with both Linares and Valero tonight. Both guys didn't have the greatest opponents in front of them, but they got the job done.

Valero still throws a lot of wild punches.....that can be corrected but his defense needs a ton of work. Other than that, it looks like he'll be a tough fight for any of the top JLW's. I thought that was a good stoppage by Pabon. Zavaleta was being hit with some hard shots and it was only a matter of time before he got KTFO or worse.

Linares smmed to have everything under control. It looked like he just was going some rounds to get some ring work in. Diaz was throwing looping punches and twice Linares made him pay with some nice counterpunching. The punch that ended Diaz's night in the eight round was a beauty. I wouldn't be surprised if it was on YouTube in a few days.

Didn't watch the posted card. Andy Lee won the Irish Super Middleweight Title with a 6th round stoppage of somebody.

Decent card overall ... Linares is a future P4P fighter ... very impressive.

Valero does seem to be lacking defensively but he throws so many power punches, so fast that he will be tough to beat by anyone. Valero vs. Pac Man might rival Hagler-Hearns for the greatest 8 minutes in boxing.

Lopez is a little b***h, Velaquez Jr. doesn't look like much although I had him winning 5 rounds to 3.

I kept thinking why are they showing all the highlights for the mexican fighters even when they lost the round ... funny then the announcers said they had no control over the highlights.

If they want to keep showing PPV fights of Linares/Valero I will keep buying. Although now that Chavez Jr. turned down the Gomez fight and plans to fight stiffs every other month on PPV in 2008 I won't be buying unless it has a strong undercard (like Arce/Castillo)

Agreed a PacMan Vs Valero match-up is a dream fight for as long as it lasted. Which likely wouldn't be long......I see PacMan stopping Valero inside of 5 rounds....

Valero is clearly exicting....comes in shape and throws bombs.....but he hasn't faced enough competition....he has beaten two true quality fighters....with Vicente Mosquera being of real class.....His win over Mosquera was a hell of a win and a hell of a fight (for the title).

At this time I see PacMan & JMM beating him.....and Guzman could likely run his way to a decision as well......

Just read this on FightNews:

Quote:
The WBC reports that the Boxing Commission of Cancun has changed the result of the Rudy López-Naoki Matsuda WBC title eliminator to a no contest. In accordance with a new rule put in place at the recent WBC Convention in Manila, although the cut suffered in the third round by Rudy Lopez was opened by a Madsuda right hand, the new regulation of the WBC stipulates that when a wound caused by a legal blow later becomes worse and prevents the continuation of the fight, a technical decision must be ordered with the bout going to the scorecards. After looking at the video, it was confirmed that the blow was caused by a punch, but after the cut had gotten worse following an incident in round eight (which the Lopez camp insists was a headbutt), referee Laurence Cole, against regulations, stopped the bout without consulting the ring doctor (who was indicating that Lopez couldn't continue) and ruled the bout a TKO win for Matsuda. Had the bout gone to the scorecards, Lopez, who was ahead on two judges' cards with the third card even, would have been declared the winner. To avoid accusations of favoritism toward Mexicans, it was decided to make the bout a "no contest," opening the possibility of another fight to clarify things in the ring. WBC President Jose Suliamán stated "We are tired of them unfairly taking away Mexicans' deserved victories, mostly in the country to the north, and we will not allow it to happen in our own homeland."
I love how the WBC and Jose Suiliman pollute boxing. They make up things as the situation dictates it. Matsuda cut Lopez with a legal blow. It got worse and the doctor stopped the fight. Clear victory for Matsuda but of course Suiliman had to reverse the decision to suit his own agendas.

Ironically, no one is talking about Lopez running over to Matsuda after the fight and pushing him in the back of head and trying to take a swing at him.

That is an absolute joke ... and boxing scratches it's head on why it has a bad name.

Not only that.....it seems that Suiliman tends to favor the Mexican fighters. It's clearly obvious when he made this statement:

Guess there will be no punishment handed down for the unsportsmanlike behavior by Lopez

Nice shot at the US also ... from my recollection Mexicans are big time fan favorites in the US and they seem to get the upper hand most times.

All of this is stemming from the Santa Cruz/Casamayor debacle last month. I can understand that Siuliman is up in arms about the judging of the fight but he's making it sound like all Mexican fighters get shafted in the US. Funny thing is he fails to mention some of the gift decisions that they have recieved.

Mexican vs. Cuban so it's not like they voted for an American in that one ... besides he should talk to GBP if he has a beef.
