(Andreas) - TBCB 2.5 and DX 8.3??

Andreas - Will TBCB 2.5 work on XP running DX 8.3?

The system I plan to run TBCB 2.5 on right now....Will be on my computer that is set-up with XP (but only up to DX 8.3). I do not plan to upgrade this specific computer (for various reaons) to the new DX 9/10.

I'm not 100% sure of this answer Meade but does 2.0 run on your system now? If so I would think that 2.5 will. I will link this in the beta threads in hope Andreas sees it.

The system I am running 2.0 on now has DX 9+ - My situation is,

1. I'm buying a new computer - Which I plan to use for work and some larger "wargame type sims".

2. The computer I have now, that I am currently running TBCB 2.0 on, I am giving away (to another family member).

3. I have another computer that I use for a flight sim and used to play TBCB 1.0 on - In my perfect world, it is on this computer that I would like to install TBCB 2.5. (however, it will only have DX 8.3).

If worse comes to worse I will simply install TBCB 2.5 on to my new system that I am purchasing......I would just rather not do that.

Thanks for linking it....

TBCB 2.5 will not be using DirectX for the interface like the previous versions of TBCB, so it shouldn't matter what DX version you have installed.

That's right, but TB 2.5 will still use DirectSound. Anyway, I guess it will work on DX 8.x, but I cannot promise it. I'm testing it on DX 9.0c. But there will be a demo mode in the game, so just test it before purchasing!

Well, I don't usually care about the sound.....so if that could be my only issue......Then I wouldn't mind....I sim with sound off anyway....

Yeah, been busy (in fact, I should be working right now...). I have been lurking a lot.

And I'm almost positive there were hardly any changes to DirectSound from DX8 to DX9, so there shouldn't be any issues there.
