Forman
Shavers
Tyson
Lewis
Marciano
Tua
Baer
Liston
Louis
Dempsey

This is my hardest punching fighters list
But if it was affective and accuracy combined with punch power.
Louis and Dempsey would be a lot higher up my list.

I still don't see how Lennox Lewis makes a top ten hardest punchers list. If he is on it then you have to put Klitschko on it.

Notice how the oldest fighter on the list is Dempsey? Jeffries, Sharkey, Maher, Fitzsimmons, Langford, McVea, Smith, etc are all forgotten. Dempsey will be joining them soon, then Louis and Baer.

Disagree. While they may both punch equally hard Lennox did his work against much better opponents. Who has Vlad KO'd that was of importance? Maybe if Vlad had a resume.....

Wow, Franco DePiccoli didn't make the list? The Db team is evidently endorsing his HP:13, a number matched/exceeded by only Foreman and Marciano.

Punching power is difficult to measure. Mike Tyson had explosive power: speed, power, and timing whereas Wlad has thudding power without explosion. Bonecrusher Smith is another example of someone who had a thudding punch. If you played chicken with both, Wlad's punch would be harder but you wouldn't see Tyson's second or third punching coming or you wouldn't have the time to react to the first one resulting in an impressive looking KO.

Max Bear also had thudding power. Jack Dempsey's power was closer related to Tyson. I think you have to rate the total quality of the punch instead of just how hard you think it is.

I agree with #1... when Foreman was pounding the heavy bag in "When We Were Kings", my jaw dropped. I've never seen anything like that.

The true power punchers are not the guys that break opponents down like Marciano. They are guys who pop a guy with one punch and lay him out cold when seconds before he looked perfectly okay, maybe even winning the round. Foreman was one of those guys. Dempsey another. And Jeffries.

I don't know that I would want to rank the entire group. But Shavers would be at the top of my list. I believe Marciano belongs. I thought that was the main way he kept his record spotless.

Fondly remembering the good old days when ABC's Wide World of Sports actually had a Shavers fight on a Saturday afternoon.

The past may be gone for good but it's nice to recall every now and then.

I would agree here if the category were more narrowly defined as one-punch knockout power. But I think power can also be measured toward guys who could virtually end any fight with one swing even if they didn't actually end it with that punch. I still think Marciano was one of those guys.

One of the networks tried again . . maybe two summers ago? Something like three Sat. afternoon cards in 3-5 weeks? Calvin Brock I think was on one of them . . guess it didn't go well

Both Ali and Larry Holmes have been quoted as saying Shavers hit them the hardest. And those 2 got hit by some pretty mean opponents especially the Greatest.
