Fnf 1/4
where did the power come from with Rahem?
I still don't think Green is a viable contender ... notice how he mentioned every big SMW but Miranda ... he uses every excuse for the Miranda fight yet he doesn't want a rematch????? |

Raheem came out with a purpose and got rid of a guy with a fairly padded record. It remains to be seen if he can remain aggressive for any extended period because Raheem has been known to be very inconsistent.
Green will get taken apart once he steps up again. Ever notice how he constantly looks down at his feet every time he resets? A good fighter is going to make him pay for that. Last edited by a87star : 01-06-2008 at 01:01 AM. |

Constantly looking down at your feet has nothing to do with a colon problem. It's just a really bad habit that will probably be difficult to break. According to his amateur trainer, he's been doing that since he was a teenager.
Miranda didn't really take advantage of that like he should have. If he did it from the beginning of the fight, Green would have been out of there by the fifth round. Last edited by a87star : 01-06-2008 at 01:15 PM. |

I still find it funny though that with Miranda fighting at 168 now with Green, Green isn't calling him out.
Afterall wasn't one of Green's excuses that he was weight drained from making 160? Even the Lacy we saw against Manfredo, handles Green pretty easily. |

If he was so weightdrained.......why did he agree to that catchweight? Green will always be good enough to beat the mid-level contender/gatekeeper type but he'll never be world class. I think Lacy and Manfredo would handle him easily. Heck......I could name ten SMW's on the euro level that would school Green.

I think it's easy to say that the guy is making excuses.
What I know is probably not that easy is having surgery to repair your digestive system. He has never been overly hyped or any of that nonsense. Especially by Teddy on his 8 ESPN fights. And I think his direct quote was "I'm not harping on it too much, but I think that's the fight I want the most" during the prefight interview. Of course about Edison Miranda. Not that trash talk is what makes or breaks a fighter. My son had a serious problem with his colon as an infant and toddler and still has difficulties with his digestive system, so I know a little more about it than I want to know, but it is scary. It is also embarrassing in a way, which is why I applaud Green for having the courage to even mention the surgery. He was very private about it at first which is understandable. But to lie about something like that would be unforgivable. It's like the guy who calls in to work because his Dad is in the hospital...or baby or something, and it isn't true. If he is fabricating the story than shame on him. But to assume that he is blaming a loss on an issue like that is not cool. And the looking down at his feet thing was mentioned way too many times. There are guys with strange quirks like stretching during a fight (shooting out the right or left to stretch). Or how Jermain Taylor paws at his face before he sets his feet to punch. Those are "tells" that won't be fixed and some are worse than others but everyone has got one unless you are God. |

The problem vaughn is he talked so much crap about Miranda before the fight .. got smacked with a right midway through the first round then ran like a girl the rest of the fight.
Afterwards he blamed everything in the book, then found out about the colon thing and blamed that. It also doesn't help his cause that one of our most annoying posters was all over his jock before and after the fight. Also I never heard him mention Miranda in his string of fighters he wanted to fight ... if I missed it then my apologies. |
