Jones vs. Trinidad

I will now be buying this card.

I like Mike Mollo and his fight with Golota should be a slugfest.

Roman Karmanzin vs. Alex Bunema is a decent matchup

also

Devon Alexander steps up in competition in a big was vs. Demarcus Corley.

I will have to watch it Sunday morning though as I am going to see Louis C.K. in concert that night.

Me too Mike - so you're saying you don't want us to rush on here & put the result in the subject line?

LOL ... I probably won't be on before watching it. I really am looking forward to seeing Louis C.K. I loved his HBO show Lucky Louie and his HBO stand up special was hilarious.

Does anyone notice that Karmazin has been avoided like the plague by some of the top JMW's? He had a real breakout performance against Kassim Ouma and accounted himself well in a tough fight against Cory Spinks but has not recieved a title shot since that time.

Oh yeah, I saw some of his show on HBO. His wife was always PO'd in that show as I recall.

Sort of like in the 80's when everyone avoided Mike McCallum, such as Hearns, Leonard, and a few others. McCallum wanted to fight Hearns and Emanuel Steward didn't want them to fight so he left and joined Lou Duva and George Benton.

His HBO Show was classic...Didn't care for the stand up special so much but I just may have been having a bad day he is a really funny guy

I'm not sure I'm buying, but I have a feeling I'll cave in at the last minute.

There isn't a whole lot I see that favors Roy, except for maybe he's been in the ring a little more recently.

Roy got stopped by Jones and Tarver and Tito can bring it better than those guys. Tito got schooled by Winky, but I doubt Roy can box like that any more.

With all the signs pointing that way in my mind, could the pick be more obvious?

Roy Jones MD 12.

(that was post 2500, or one-quarter of one percent of the way to a million posts)

I agree, I still think he has just enough boxing skill left & we know even a younger Tito had trouble with good boxers.

I wouldn't even be surprised to see Roy take him out in the late rounds. I think Roy knows he has to be impressive in this fight if he is going to get a big $$ shot or a title match.

Betting a young contender in Hanshaw didn't get him anything (although I think that win is more impressive then a win over a washed up rusty Trinidad), so he knows he has to be impressive against a name.

I think once he realizes Tito is too slow to hurt him, he will start taking more chances and we know Tito has chin problems late in fights.

Ok, I'm not nuts . . I had one of those, 116-112, 116-111, 114-114 type MDs in mind when I wrote that. I just couldn't muster a real compelling case for Roy, just one of those gut things.

That's all it can really be Will .... who knows how Trinidad shows up ... the layoff could have done him well.

But I just think with the layoff ... fighting way way over his best weight ... and his ability against quick fighters in the past really play against him.

I could see your final scores though.

Roy Jones easy. Roy Jones is sparring with Dan Harvison and it appears that he is going to promote Harvison now.

Hate to bring up the size thing, but it definitely comes into play in this fight. Tito has never fought above 160, and Jones is a former world heavyweight belt holder, who bested a 226 lb. defending champ. (Even though it was John Ruiz.)

Trinidad looked horrible against Wright nearly three years ago. Roy looked decent in winning the vacant IBC crown in his last fight six months ago. I think it's a matter of who has more left in the tank at this point, and my money is on RJJ. While a decision victory is the most likely scenario, wouldn't be surprised if Jones wins by knockout.

The size thing absolutely comes into play in this one.

I'm picking Jones, but I always liked Tito, and every fighter has his flaws for Tito it was fighting quick guys, and Jones weakness was fighting guys like Richard Frazier in title defences, and I thought Floyd Patterson fighting Pete Rademacher was bad. I think I'll pass on this one guys it might have been worth it a few years ago.

If Jones doesn't win big, he should hang them up for keeps.

Agree 100%, if he wants another big money fight then he needs to win and win impressively.

Did anyone catch that HBO show about this fight? I sensed Tito's people think Jones chin is gone & that's their main hope/chance to win.

Speaking of Tito's fight vs. Winky, I recall thinking before the fight maybe Tito was too big but a clip from their fight on the show & Wink looked like the MW & Tito the WW.
