I'm not a big guy, but I can pack away beer with the best of 'em. Margaritas, while probably my favorite mixed drink, are something I definitely approach differently. We had a party here last summer and I made margaritas not using mix, but with Grand Marnier and lime juice. Wooooweee! They were great but my head was swimming after a couple of 'em. Needless to say, we hid car keys on a couple of people that day.

Wine, as much as I like it, will also do this to me. If I go past a couple of glasses, I definitely feel it.

I used to run the art department at an ad agency. The directors would go off on an annual retreat each year and it would be one of the rare times where we'd see each other and actually get to unwind. It's where I first met the big guy who ran the NY office. Rick could put away massive quantities of alcohol. First time I ever met him it was just him and me in the hotel bar. The bar had this "specialty" drink (code word for BE AFRAID) that they served. Kind of a long island ice tea - heintz 57 variety kindda thing. Went down like koolaid. With hollow leg Rick across the table - an engaging sort who immediately became a great friend - I drank god only knows how many of those things. I don't remember exactly when I left normal for the land of la-la, but the next morning was a green gilled lesson on never again trusting the specialty drink of the house. And never, ever, match my buddy Rick drink for drink.

I can drank a bunch of beer in bottles or cans. But if I drank just a few draft beers on tap I get a violent headache....

One should always, ALWAYS stay clear of a Long Island Ice Tea...ALWAYS!

A friend om mine ordered a "slammer" when he went to Greece in his youth. The "slammer" consisted of 5 shots of a very strong, clear liquor and an old Jofa helmet (the type that Gretzky used). The bartender told him to throw them back as fast as he could and he did. Now you are thinking what the helmet had to do with anything. Well, as soon as he downed the last shot the bartender wacked him in the head real hard with a rubber hammer

I can drink a good amount of beer, draft or canned/bottled, and prefer Yuengling Black & Tan or other dark beers. I can even belt down a few Irish Car Bombs on Saint Paddy's Day, or almost any other day, now that I think about it, as I have to stay in training!

Home-made sangria used to do me in, so I rarely drink it anymore. I have a good barometer that tells me it's time, or past time, to stop drinking. It is when I think women are really starting to like me! Then I think of Psycho Bride and our wonderful divorce and I abstain for the rest of the night!

There are 3 beverages that I won't touch again. Long Island Ice Tea, Tequila and Jägermeister. If you summarize all stupid, bad and crazy alcohol related stuff I've ever done I'm pretty sure that Tequila played a part 75% of the times. Haven't touched the stuff since is was 22-23 years old.

I agree on the tequila and Jager, and would add a drink I haven't had in 35+ years, Southern Comfort. I guess almost everyone in their youth has done the Porcelain Lament after drinking some insidious beverage!

Tommy - the "slammer" story is a riot. As if I wouldn't have ringing in my ears BEFORE the hammer came down...

Now Tequila - weil I still enjoy it on occasion, although I won't touch anything with a worm in the bottom of the bottle. Experience being the best teacher there...

Mike - I sing from the same songbook as you regarding Southern Comfort. Some bad memories from early college days still haunt me, and I haven't touched the stuff in decades.

Damn, do all my best personal stories end with a visit from Ralph and Earl?

I can drink beer with anyone ... I had 17 last night and woke to only a minor headache which went away after two gatorades.

Margarita's I drink by the pool in the summer and I get toasted quickly off them. If I step away from beer I get hammered. I like jager bombs but I tend to get hazy on the events of the evening after my second one.

So I know what you are saying for sure.

I remember waking up one morning in my dorm room at Purdue (a single thank God) with puke all over the room, my ankle the size of a watermelon and no recollection of the night's events.

I did find out later that I was banned from a girl's dorm because me and three others ran naked through the halls and evidently that is where I twisted my ankle.

That was the last time I did shots of Tequila ... still drink it in Margarita's but that is all.

You may have forgotten all about it, but no doubt, many remain haunted...

Ah, a beer fan like myself. I hate to admit it but I can put down extremely large quantities of beer also.

What sort of beer do you like?

LOL, I think at this point, the best (worst?) I can hope for around here is to make a PFP list.

All sorts but at home I drink Coors Light .... At bars usually drink Rolling Rock or Killian's Red. Not a big fan of all the fancy micro brews.

There's a great microbrewery in KC called Boulevard. Love their Pale Ale. Highly recommended to those of you who like manly beer.

My alltime fav is Guiness. I have a buddy in California who has a refrigerated Guiness beer tapper. He keeps it on tap and when I come out, we put it away. Guiness on tap like that is beyond description.

Ah, we are on the opposite end of the spectrum then....but still have alot in common!

I usually get my beer from the local brewpub but I like Summit or Sierra Neveda Pale Ale.

My sister-in-law is the same way.....American Lager or nothing.
