Espn Fnf 2/29/08
Seriously Alan Green is now afraid of Antwun Echols? Oh wait it was business ... I see
![]() His stock seriously can't drop much lower. First he was on FNF saying how he can beat anyone in the SMW division and how he only wants fights with Calzaghe or Kessler or Bute ... of course never mentioning a rematch with Miranda until pressed. Then he is to fight some stiff on FNF ... then when the stiff is replaced by Echols he pulls out of the fight ... all after running from Miranda for 10 rounds and blaming it on his colon (yeah I know he had surgery but it was supposively bothering him for 18 months to 2 years and it was only a problem after Miranda landed a huge right in the first round). This guy is a joke. Powell looked good facing some huge stiff ... didn't watch the main event. Interesting listening to Mesi .. and he had a point. Watching the clips of his comeback trail he looked more fit and had better hand speed as time went on. Maybe he can get back into a top 10 fight and get killed ... good for him. ^ wow someone is cynical this morning ![]() |

Green certainly looks chumpy after that. Mesi is stupid for getting back into the ring. I'd guess Wlad takes him out if he ever works his way up to getting a shot against him.

From how Mesi was talking, I don't think he has any intention of fighting any of the "bigger" heavyweights and is zeroing in on the guys near his size. He mentioned Chagaev, Ibragimov and Maskaev a few times, but wasn't eager to talk about Vlad.
Mesi may still have the hunger to fight, but in all reality, he's not stupid. All the MRI's and medical tests he has passed cannot take away the fact that he had a brain injury. I think he's just trying to work his way up the rankings by fighting soft competition and hoping to land a big payday against one of the beltholders not named Vlad. The question is, can he get a shot before Vlad takes the rest of the belts for himself...

Mesi has steadily improved since coming back. I think he should continue to fight, he can still step in with the smaller heavies and do well.
