Ruiz vs McCline

Former Heavyweight Champion John "The Quiet Man" Ruiz is scheduled to fight Jamel McCline Saturday night. With a win, Ruiz vaults right back into the crowded heavyweight title picture.

Ruiz UD12...by a wide margin.

I gotta pull for McCline to finish off Ruiz once and for all but I could live without either of these two.

I'm praying for a double knockout so they eliminate each other from any future possibilities on inflicting themselves on boxing fans

LOL! Now that's a "best case scenario" if I've ever heard one!

But, unfortunately, this is real life, and I'll have to go with Ruiz via extremely boring 118-110 UD.

I'm rooting for McCline but Ruiz will probably win by wide UD. Have a question for all the knowledeable boxing fans here......how can you score a Ruiz fight by him hugging for 12 rounds or do the judges see it as "effective aggression"

The worst possible scenario here is a draw, but since McCline only fights about 3 rounds per fight I will have to go with John "Huggy Bear" Ruiz.

Now that was a sweet KO!

How about Kimbo vs. both of these guys in the parking lot on the way in?

For whatever reason, Ruiz's style seems to be favorable to many judges. I'm still scratching my head at how he was able to get the decision vs Golota after hitting the canvas on two occasions. Mathematically, he had to win virtually every remaining round that he wasn't on floor in order for the that to occur. I certainly didn't see it that way, but the judges apparently did.

I totally agree, and I also believe that Golota was jobbed against Chris Byrd, but despite his temprament Golota was a pretty good fighter. I am sure we haven't forgotten what was happening in his fights with Bowe before he was DQ'd in both fights and Riddick was by no means washed up.

I, too, thought Andrew won the fight vs Byrd. To my knowledge, Golota is the only heavyweight to have had a shot at all 4 major belts, and come up short each time. And yes, he was killing Bowe in both those fights before the disqualifications.

To me, Andrew is boxings poster child for unfulfilled potential. Personally, I would like to see him get another shot at a world heavyweight title before it's all said and done; and not of the WBE or IBA variety.

Actually, a really boring fight ending in a draw would probably eliminate both of these guys from future consideration. Unfortunately, considering the amazing scoring in the Ruiz-Golota fight, I have to think McCline will have to literally rip his head off to get a draw.

Amen... with the heart he showed in the Mollo fight, he just might get another chance. I think Ruslan handles him pretty easily, but I'd make him 50/50 vs the winner of Maskaev and Peter. Zero chance against Wlad.

Cap, It's funny you should say that because that is exactly what I thought
Hagler had to do to Leonard in Vegas to get a draw, and according to Jo Jo
Guerra's scorecard for the fight he probably had to do just that.

I think Golota gets another opportunity in an eliminator if he can win one more fight against a fringe contender. Facing the winner of the Ruiz/McCline fight would be a likely scenario.

Geez. What happened to THAT David Tua?

P.S. a point of interest. Merchant says they once took a tape measure to Mike Tyson and he was about five eleven. I've heard others say they've stood alongside Tyson and he appears shorter by a few inches.
