Naito Vs Pong Wonjongkam IV - (This weekend)
WBC Fly Champ Naito is taking on former Fly King Pong this weekend - For a 4th time -
Pong having won the first 2 fights - And Naito finally taking his belt via very close dec - Fight taking place in Japan - Should be a good one - We will see what Pong has left - He has looked old for the past 2 years really.......maybe he has one last fight in him. Wonjongkam-Naito: An Unlikely Chapter Four By Cliff Rold WBC Flyweight championship is ready to go !. Today at noon, Daisuke Naito, who is a currently WBC Flyweight titlist, and his challenger, Pongsaklek Krathingdaeng Gym (Wonjongkam) of Thailand, easily make weight for "The pride of national heroes" at Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Naito registered at the top of Flyweight scale, 112 lbs, and Pongsaklek took 0.2 pound lower limit. This is the 4th-rematch of them that Thai fighter got KO and TKO winning in first 2 fights and retained his belt easily. But on July 2007, Naito captured WBC belt by unanimous decision won over the Thailander. Tomorrow they will fight for WBC belt at Ryogoku Kokugikan, one of the biggest sumo arena in Japan. If Pongsaklek regains his title, he wants to make his first defending fight with Japanese super star and formerly WBA Light Flyweight boss, Koki Kameda in the near future. _________ Is the pressure getting to Natio??? TOKYO -- Japan's WBC flyweight champion Daisuke Naito has begun showing signs of pressure in the build-up to this weekend's clash with Pongsaklek Wongjongkam. The Thai challenger flew into Japan on Monday to prepare for his fourth fight against Naito, who promptly pulled the plug on a news conference following a medical check in Tokyo. "I know after Saturday's fight it could all be different," Naito told Tuesday's Japanese media as the spectre of Pongsaklek loomed. "I'm totally focused but I'm also very tense." Naito won the title from Pongsaklek in a shock points win last July following two defeats at the hands of the hard-hitting Thai. The champion claimed the pressure was on Pongsaklek, a national hero in Thailand after successfully defending his title 17 times before being ambushed by Naito. "He was a bit careless last time we fought," said Naito. "I've seen his physique and he's even more ripped than before so I think he's really prepared for this fight." They fought to a Draw (officially) - Awful Decision -
Pong clearly won it on my card - Natio did bring pressure but was wild and countered all night long - Natio was the only one every really hurt - I had Pong up 3pts cleary - |
