Ruiz vs McCline spoiler
The promised "new" John Ruiz (43-7-1, 29 KOs) seems exactly like the old one. "The Quiet Man" tediously grappled his way to a unanimous decision win over equally disappointing Jameel McCline (39-9-3, 23 KOs). Scores were 117-111, 118-110, and 119-109 in a bout that left the fans in Cancun to entertain themselves by mocking the fighters with chants, catcalls, and whistles normally reserved for the ring card girls.

WBC might do that, they already have two mandatorys lined up (Vitali & Virchis)

As much of a fanboy as I am of both Klitschkos, I would have to agree. Vitali was/is a major talent in the heavyweight division, but it seems to be a case of the spirit being willing, and the body being weak. Just seems as if the past couple of years, he's had a problem staying healthy until fight night. Can't help but think that his size has a little something to do with it.

I actually liked Vitali and have him rated at a 10 in my game.

Vitali was a good fighter but didn't he have like a back problem or something?

Not sure what you mean by that. Vitali Klitschko is the only world heavyweight champion in history to have retired having never been on the canvas in his entire professional career.

Good thing they stopped his fight with Lewis when they did then. Another round or so, and he'd've been flat on his back courtesy of a big right uppercut.

Vitali had won 4 of the 6 rounds before the fight was stopped on cuts. The look of relief on Lennox's (and his Moms') faces told the story. Don't think that Klitschko was in any danger of being knocked down that night. He had already taken Lennox's best shots and was getting the better of the exchanges for most of the bout. Speaks volumes how that Lewis chose to retire rather than give Vitali a rematch.

No cut and Vitali wins that fight. But give Lewis credit the cut was the result of a punch and he really went after it once it was open. Lewis did what he had to do to win ... but Vitali was by no means in trouble of going down. |

The same out of shape Lewis entered that fight as the one who entered the first Rahman fight. Rahman finished him off but Vitali failed to do it. Vitali would have definately out pointed him but Lewis's chin was on a whole different level that night. He took some big shots from a big puncher and never went down.

Once that cut opened there was no holding Lewis back. As usual, once he had an opponent figured out he broke him down. If Vitali didn't go down from a punch he'd likely would have quit on his stool. Lennox would've nailed the big stiff coming in with a few big straight right hands then worked the uppercut and it would've been goodnight nurse. As for a rematch, why bother? Lewis figured why beat the poor guy up twice and ruin his career?
