Problem with the year offset in tb2.5

I just installed tb2.5 and migrated in my universe from v2. Everything went fine, but the year offset doesn't seem to be working. All of my fighters are now a few hundred years old even though the year offset is something like -260 years. Any ideas what I can do to get this working properly?

TIA,
-bt

I've noticed now that the year offset feature doesn't work at all- even for new universes. Am I the only one here using that feature, or does no one care that it's broken?

I don't use it but will report it for the future patch. I don't know too many people here who use it, probably should have been caught in beta, I know I never looked at it.

When I was going to start my slowly evolving Universe I attempted to use it as I was going to start with fighters from 1950 to 1959, and I thought I might have been doing something wrong, and never questioned it.

I appreciate the responses. The problem with the feature is that the sim never really tells you what the current year is, so you mentally have to know what it is. I keep track of it all in a spreadsheet and increment the offset number every year to simulate progression of time in the fighter's records. So my fighter records look realistic.

With the feature broken I really can't go forward until it's fixed. It'll just be too tedious to keep track of the outrageous numbers. I really hope it's looked at for the first patch.

I just schedule my fights in the year that my universe is in ... I really have no clue what the offset thing does. But I will report it.

All the feature does is allow you to manually change the base year. So if I want my records to start at 1950 I would set the offset to -58. I decided to have my universe start at the year 1720. So my records now are completely skewed making tracking important things difficult. Thanks for reporting it.

Sounds like it is the same thing as just setting the fight year to 1950.

Actaully, it's not. When you set the fight year to 1950 the fighter's personal stats will still reflect 2008, or whatever the game's internal year is. So if my fighter's is fighting on a 1950 date at 30 years old, his age in the game will show up as 80 years old. You need to set the game offset to -50 to get the age down to 30 years old so the fighter statistics are correct.

I see ... I never pay any attention to their age either because it's just window dressing.

It is to a degree. I'm exporting the fighter data to xml and history to csv. I have some basic parsing working right now, but I need the date accuracy. It's not a big deal with the universe history, but it is with the fighter xml. Some stats are just way off and I don't feel like doing a conversion because it's still difficult to keep track of things in the game if the numbers are off. I'm also trying to keep track of some things that the game doesn't, like what the fighter's best ever ranking is and some more interesting universe statistics.

When you have a game like this that doesn't do a whole lot to organize the universe we have to take a lot of that upon ourselves. The year offset does complicate that a bit, but I think it's made my universe a bit more interesting mainly because I don't want it to reflect modern times.

I'm not sure I am following because I export the XML all the time. What am I missing with the stats?
