HBO 6/21 (spoilers)

I say Berto has to go the distance but wins easily

Arreola with a late stoppage ...

Really? I thought La Bamba was getting pounded pretty well in the first round, too. He was a real gamer in that he didn't really show that he was getting hurt up until the point where he got knocked down twice and then TKO'd, but Berto was hitting him early and often.

As for the other fight, I'm not sure what to think. On the one hand, I think that calling a fight because one corner stepped onto the apron when you're counting their guy out to end the round is pretty ticky tack. It really just looked to me like the ref was trying to stay out of a situation where he'd have to call a TKO. On the other, I doubt Witherspoon could have gone much longer if that hadn't happened.

Took 4 rounds for La Bamba's hair to get messed up ... that's some good Dapper Dan.

Rules are rules and Witherspoon's corner was in the ring before the count was over. Didn't really matter though he wouldn't have been able to get back home from Queer Street in one minute.

I love Arreola ... not much skill but he hits like a mule. Sort of reminds me of a modern day Randall Tex Cobb. My new favorite saying "he hit me with an oh sh** jab"

I didn't know Arreola was friends with Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson. Interesting combination. LOL.

That's cool to see. I happen to like both Arreola and Johnson and think they can be good HW's.

Where do you think Chris goes from here? IMO he should fight someone like Barrett or Ahunanya. A fight with Tua would be a real war.

* Tua is shot but you can't hurt him and he can still punch. Ahunanya is the trail horse everyone is using currently...but that is a step down from Witherspoon. Barrett, Mollo, Ruiz, or Golota should be the next challenge. Ruiz is most likely too good still and it would be an ugly fight.

I thought Chazz stood a chance against Arreola but he didn't have the upper body and head movement that I thought he might. He has a nice jab but not the other attributes that a fighter needs to employ an stick and move style. He is a step above a trail horse but won't come close to a championship belt....IMOP. He needs brand new corner people....the ones he currently employs are amateurs at best.

I still think that Arreola gets hit too much but with four champions, he will get a crack but I can't see him winning against any of the current title holders.

I would like to see Mollo/Arreola if it can be made. There's also been talk of matching up him up with Manuel Quezada......a HW from NorCal who has gone on a nice winning streak.

Arreola could probably beat Golota and Tua even though they are somewhat dangerous matchups. I also think he would beat Ruiz based on his agressiveness and punch output.

I've heard a lot of Tua talk ... Barrett isn't an option because Tye Fields will beat him this weekend and why fight someone Tye Fields just beat.

I think Fields might be in over his head even against a partially shot Barrett. If Monte wins on Saturday.......there is a possibility of him facing Arreola. My gut says Tua has the inside track depending on how he looks in his upcoming fight.
