Is this possible?

I own Title Bout CB 1 or 2. I forget which one it was. One of the things I hated about it was how dang hard it was to create a database of fighters I wanted and seperate them by debut date. I have a Mike Tyson dynasty still going on my game. I had to go in and delete all of the old fighters and then group the remaining fighters by year they came in. It was a pain in the ass man.

I've downloaded the demo of this new one but haven't had a chance to play it much yet. Is it possible to select a date or something... lets say, I want to start January 1986. Then the game would only put into my pool of boxers fighters that were statistically active during 1986? Then as I move forward it'd add new fighters for 1987? 1988? So forth and so on. Is there a quick way to do this?

If so, I'll buy the thing right now no questions asked. If not, ugh... well, it's not looking good for me purchasing this software. But I'll still give the demo a twirl.

This is the #1 feature that would make me a definite buy. I hate going in there and manually deleting boxers and un-retiring boxers. Most of the boxers from Tyson's day are in the retired folder... man, I wish so bad I could just put in a date and the game would automatically only populate my database with boxers from that year and then progress as I move my universe foward. Sorta like Lahman and OOTP.

Doable?

Also, why is Ali always rated with perfect defense? I have a the Foreman, Frazier, Norton and Liston Match Collections on DVD and I've watched all of Ali's big fights. The guy had a super chin, super handspeed but his defense was pretty pathetic. He got hammered because of his lack of defense. He carried his hands low and didn't even have a basic bob and weave. The only defense he had was a clinch (which he did A LOT to break an opponents offense) and his suicidal lean back. He had an incredible chin and could take a punch like no other but his defense was pretty bad. That's always the first thing I change.

You can import by start date now.

If you wanted to start a universe with all the fighters active in 1986 you would have to use a little bit of a work around and maybe import fighters from 1976 to 1986 to start with.

What they won't have is a built in history though ... all fighters start at 0-0. Once you get your uni set up though you can import by start date only from there on out.

The Ali rating was not changed from the Trunzo years ... for an explanation of his rating you would have to ask them ... but they aren't active anymore. Personally there are several fighters I change upon importing. While I'm not confident enough in my ratings to add them to the database, I still have a feel for what I think is right. Like Marvin Johnson for example. While he is a high quality 6 in the game, I think he deserves a better rating than that so I upped him when I brought him into the uni.

The database team can defend ratings of fighters we have added because we test them against a schedule ... we don't know how the Trunzos rated their fighters, so I won't try to explain them. FWIW I always lower Ali down to about a 13 overall when I use him.

Good deal. I'm going to have to try it out and see how it functions then. Will it add boxers in gradually? Or will I have to manually add them?

There is a button at the bottom inside your universe that says "update from pool" when you hit that a screen comes up that allows you to dictate what you import. So you kinda have to manually do it but it is 1000x easier than before.

Good deal. I'm testing it out right now and I appreciate the help. Muchos gracias! If this works well I'll be another purchase. Heh. I loved the game I bought before it was just so cumbersome to setup a proper database and then you'd have to keep guys in there and make sure they didn't fight until they were supposed to. Which means the auto-scheduler that I used to create records for the "stiffs" I had to go in and exclude a TON of fighters each time, half of which because they weren't active. If this feature works it'll be a big step forward because I loved the game aside from that. Heh.

Also you can mass edit for the autoscheduler in this one ... I keep them all out of the autoscheduler and then mass edit the guys I want to fight that month into it.

Ali's defense early on was his foot speed. If you were training a fighter, you would not want him to watch Ali because he did a lot of things wrong but he was so fast he could get away with it. Sorta like Roy Jones as a LHW. When Ali's legs went, so did his defense.
