On the Larry Holmes fight, Cobb's biggest ever bout.

"No, Larry don't hit as hard as Earnie Shavers. No-one hits as hard as Shavers. If there was a fighter that hit harder than Shavers, I shoot him!"

"I wasn't talking to Holmes in there. Every time I felt like saying something to him I found it hard because he kept putting his left hand in my mouth."

He may have been no match for the greats in the ring; but in terms of making us laugh, nobody in boxing did it better than Randy Cobb!

I always loved Cobb's quotes. Wished he would have had the talent to match so his quotes would have received more mainstream attention.

My all time favorite Cobb comment was his response to being asked if he'd like to fight Larry Holmes again.

"No. The last time I fought him I hurt him bad, and I don't want to do that to Larry's hands again."

This is my all time favorite sports quote. My runner up all time sports quote was Julius Boros "Retire? But I already play golf."

Did my comment about Arreola reminding me a bit of Cobb make you think of these quotes? Loved the guy ... still do whenever he is around.

He had a line in the Richard Pryor movie Critical Condition that I always remember as being hilarious but I am drawing a blank now. Not finding it on youtube either

The Holmes quote was given on the Tonight Show to Johnny Carson, and I thought Carson was going to fall out of his chair. Hilarious.

Oh man, it seems that no matter how many times I hear these I just laugh harder each time.

I could swear that I saw a message board somewhere on which he was being discussed and his ex-wife (maybe 'one of') got on and posted all sorts of nasty stuff about him. Am I halucinating?

I remember him talking about Philadelphia and how all of their fighters throw lefthooks. He said that he saw two winos fighting over a bottle in an inner city ally and they were both throwing lefthooks.
